c4 wants to drop racing so this adds to the cause

They are going to do whatever it takes to get it moved to a Saturday unfortunately

Agree. Everyone assumes we all love Ted cause were Irish. Not all of us do. As for the rest of them it's cringeworthy at the best of times. Totally sick of watching races from the car camera as well. I thought that that was originally only for replays. You've no idea what's going on behind the leaders most of the time. Of course many of us have put forward suggestions on here over the last couple of years but they couldn't care less what punters think.

lord oaksey stayed 20 years after he should have done, francs and co are safe yet for another 30 years at least
|
|
By:
Maybe its due to punters having less money and then not watching without a bet on.
|

Don't forget that to the non- racing crowd Chelts is just a raceday and the Gold Cup is just a race over fences,in some minds no different from a basic Saturday.

As the years go by, the percentage of people that find horse racing (and odds) totally incomprehensible increases.
|
|
By:
minority sport for media purposes, recent shenanigans and supposed transparency on machine show the game to be a cheats charter for any newbies.TBF Ch4 coverage is no more than a jolly for all involved,it doesn't help or assist viewers/punters with the arty shots, close ups that exclude the rest of the field and pundits who add little more than the likes of Money tree and Soldato!

Trying to explain that odds are NOT complex to an outsider is a waste of time.Saying £4 wins £7 always gets the reply"But I want to put a fiver on"!!! End of!!

lord oaksley ,,,, think i remember him ,, he did a few commentries didnt he ,,, half way through tut tut stutter stutter ,and the winner is mm mm mm

Compare racing with cricket.Very hard to change people's image of cricket ,even though the one-day stuff and 20/20 has transformed the game.Non racing people still think that I know the winner of every race, because I follow it.Hard to change images .Same as the non-racing and racing ,for that matter, public still trot out"you never see a poor bookie".A trip to the car park would do them good.

the morning line is just a pure embarrasment , racing would be better off without it
|
|

I'm one of the 100,000 who tuned out this year. And fractional odds had nothing to do with it.
-The corruption in the sport has become too obvious. It's plainly futile getting involved without a marked card. -The sheer quantity of bad racing day after day, week after week, would erode anyone's enthusiasm for the sport. -The Channel 4 presentation is so self-serving, so stale, so insider-ish and uncritical that it's annoying to watch. |

By:
Someone like Andy Gray would shake up the Morning Line, although not sure he knows anything about racing.More hard-biting approach needed.

I WOULD PRESENT THE MORNING LINE WITH..
McCIRRICK..for the entertainment. THE HEAD OF LADCROOKS..for the lies. BARNEY CURLEY...for the truth.. TANYA .........for the exchanges. JIMBO McGRATH..for the analysis... NICOLE GRAVES..for the glamour... This would make the people tune in.. |

It dosen't help there are no real equine stars, most horses don't have a following because they run twice a year at the most, I have followed racing for 50 years and worked in the industry, I always watch the big meetings, but very rarely do I look forward to watching a horse run.
