i have been laying one horse a day for last couple weeks about 4/1.6/1.got hit to day with 6/1 was getting bit cockey horse had not run 330 days can the boys who make cash tell me what the best price to lay about is?

There is no best price.
If you are laying 6/1s you need to believe they should be 8/1s

If all that you can think about is the PRICE ...
- then you are doomed.
It is the HORSE's chance that matters .
If you cannot ascertain the HORSES chances ... then the price, whatever it is, becomes inconsequential.

If you are laying 6/1s you need to believe they should be 8/1s
for the same horse, there are people that believe the 6/1 should be 4/1. they will both win money if both are correct often enough
some people are better than others at throwing darts. there are even dart throwing professionals
