Perfectly sober, Johnson is an odious individual. Paddy Brennan speaks of him in tones that make my rant seem reasonable.
Johnson is a total disgrace to racing, limited ability as a trainer, without the Wyllie's he would be the North's Richard Rowe. What irks is that there are plenty of northern hard working trainers who would welcome (and do better) just 2 or 3 nags from the Wyllie's but they prefer to house 60 nags per season with a joke trainer who hasnt won a decent prize for them in 3 years. The Wyllie's deserve Johnson and vice versa, long may they fail. |

Hobbs is overated
F Murphy is unreliable and no punters pal Rowe sadly is hopeless (a bit like Tim Nice But Dim in the Harry Enfield shows) Johnson I cannot speak more lowly of that chimp! To balance I do like Nicholls Mullins Longsdon Lavelle K Bailey (great to see him back among the winners) M Hammond (under-rated) K Reveley D Pipe N Mullholland (star of the future surely) N Henderson and several others |

brilliant to see kim bailey doing well again, quality trainer. Master oats was one of my favourite horses of alltime. [;)]

If you think Phillip Hobbs is over rated HERBLINGTON then you are sadly wrong.
He knew what Menorah needed to beat Cue Card and Silviniaco Conti at Cheltenham and put in a pacemaker so the horse could come off a true pace. I thought that was a smart piece of training |

Could not agree more re K Bailey, loved Master Oats and Alderbrook. Seems a genuine decent fella as well and love reading his daily blog, great entertainment. Tess Apologies, hes a Farmer full stop............ not a racehorse trainer, in fact Johnson couldnt train Ivy to run up a wall, deplorable at his job and as a bloke!!! |
|
By:
Why do you dislike him so much though? Fair enough i leave some trainers and jockeys alone but you seem to have hatred for him. Met Wylie and his wife Chelt 05 and seemed very nice people. Youre right Mulholland with the right backing could be the next big trainer

I dislike Johnson in particualr because he is a bully, or at least bears all the traits of a bully. He has a bad season mainly due to his own ineptitude and he sackes the jockey (Lee, Brennan and O'Regan) and I fear for Brian Hughes who is a fine lad and deserves 2 or 3 seasons support from Johnson. Longshot I agree re Menorah, my argument with Hobbs is that 90% of his novice chasers look and jump like they are seeing a fence for the first time in public and that is a disgrace. Soemone on here told me he schools his horses less than Nicholls and boy does it show. So in my very humble opinion he is average at best. |

you slag him worse than his son

I agree Hughes is a cracking lad and good rider and yes do wonder how you let Lee and Brennan go, not sure about O Regan. Maybe you know more about the stable than i do

I simply despise bullies and Johnson is one of those. I dont know much about the yard, but his antics with jockeys is a disgrace when 90% of the blame for the yards poor performances at the big meetings is down to his awful training methods. A friend of mine was party to a rant by Paddy Brennan about 2 years ago where he laid into Johnson and called him all the names under the sun, my friend was quite taken aback by it.......... |

Do you know Johnson? sounds like you do, is he really a tosser? Herb |
|
By:
has his fair share of winners and probably could do better if he wasnt ever so slightly mad..agree on the jockey sackings though, has had some real talent through the yard and do get cast aside with alarming regularity.
|
|
By:
i do know him, when he only had a few horses in he pulled some good gambles off, i aint been to his place for about three years but he has a great spot and should have more winners, think the Wyllies need to spread their horses out a bit but they pay the bills.i think the Wyllies still sponsers some of his old jocks as they have the logo on their britches.

If he hadn't been in there I dare say Silviniaco would have set a stronger tempo himself |

howard johnson is a legend and a character out of all the trainers that get interviewed hes diffrent clas and always makes me laugh.the guy gets slated on here all the time but hes trained like 8 cheltenham festival winners for wylie.
also one of the straighest stables in the business herblington u are a complete d i c k head the only tainer on ya list who is better than hojo is henderson FACT! |
|
By:
The reason he got rid of the jockeys is coz they are b.ent.
Anyone who puts M Hammond in a trainers they like list knows little or fck all about training. |

Kangaroo your right but can you say O'Regan and lee are 100% straight. |

Yet another thread full of ill informed, thoughtless, tired old rubbish.
Using the fact that certain jockeys no longer ride for him as a reason to suggest he is a 'bully' or cant train is ridiculous. Unless you truly 'know' why those jocks arent there anymore, you really arent placed to make such claims. |
|
By:
what did he get lucky with
Arcalis and no refuge as well u talk s h it mate hes the most successful trainer in the north FACT.its down to him who he wants on his horses personally cant stand brian hughes think hes the worst jockey hes had anyone who saw his ride on the knoxs and nafaath would agree |
