1.01 Thommos after his gigs

I sat next to him at lunch at a meeting at Nottingham a few years ago. He was very pleasant and informative as I recall.

Cant stand the man was coming round the corner on top of the stand at ayr racecourse when he walked right into me i said sorry although it was not my fault and he completely blanked me ignorant sod,he wont go short of cash anyway he is allegedly a millionare and director of nottingham racecourse.

Personally always found him to be a top class commentator. Different gravy in the 80's & early 90's but there are now many good commentators. When CH4 allowed him in front of the camera on the morning line, sadly it did him no favours as people got to see the real him. I took an intense dislike of him from that day onwards
By:
If you listen to his commentaries from the 80s, it was as bad as now.. Has always been gash..

'and to be really fair...'
'the winners of £487,138 in prize money...' 'look left that's (insert horse), look right that's (insert horse), and look further right...' |
By:
If GG has retired then surely thommo; if he any shred of decency should also follow suit.
By:
His commentating has got worse and worse over the last few years but as mentioned on here by others, its his arrogance that made me dislike him so much. Happened to pass him at a couple of courses and they way he would look down his nose at you after pleasantly saying hello to him, proved that he aint one of the nicest human beings around.
Most of the racing family dont partically want to acknowledge the normal man on the street, but the majority do say hello. Goode just thinks he's above everybody else, he is after all a racing commentator!!!!! |

By:
Thankfully not been subjected to his verbal Diarrhea often in recent years.
Unforgivable stream of clichés when Desert Orchid won his fourth King George, ruins that video clip every time it is played. Always wanted to develop a microchip for TV's to filter him out, working on Jim McGrath instead. ![]() |
By:
just need aussie jim and the wretched dave smith to go now
By:
I shall miss him.
I have lost count of the times when I have obtained massive prices as a direct result of him calling the wrong horse. |
By:
Eyesight particularly poor.
Hence his dressing as an Ice cream Salesman for the past 8 years. On the three meetings I've had with him I wish him a short retirement. |
By:
he is allegedly a millionare....
So would you be if you put up a huge lay at 1.01 before you left for work in the morning, and then called home the wrong horse in front in the afternoon. Never ever apologised for his countless mistakes that cost people fortunes. |

Good riddance u arrogant untalented t wat.

Dancing Brave's Derby and Lester's comeback ride on Royal Academy at the Breeders Cup were good calls .

Not if u backed dancing brave it wasn't.

By:
At least 5 years too late, no disrespect to the man but he was the horse racing equivalent of Alan Partridge in the last few years. I actually started to feel embarrassed for him recently.
By:
I always remember he was asked on the Morning Line to commentate on a French Group race on the spot. It was an awful call but the smug look on his face afterwards as if to say " what a clever boy I am !! "" . T wat
By:
did he say, pour etre juste, deux, quatre, six lenths vous nommez
By:
Non !
By:
about time a regular punters poll was taken to determine who is selected to commentate.
allocate numbers of meetings in proportion to votes received Racing Post have enough pointless polls, this would surely be more worthwhile than most of them? |
By:
I have always liked the guy and will be sorry to see him gone.
