if you looking for a form expert, Alice possibly not your person. But it does help to have someone commentating who is very knowledgable about horse husbandry, can judge a horse in the paddock, knows all about jumping obstacles etc - which is more than can be said for a lot of commentators who've never sat on or been near a horse in their lives

OK. That explains why Lesley Graham is on the programme too. I suppose that The Morning Line is not for the purist but more the viewer who is being introduced to horseracing. That's good but why do they have to tip horses!

went to godolphin but whether or not they sussed...!
LG is a lovely person tbf and doesn't justify some of the criticism by people who simply don't know her!

I have to agree with the majority on here that Plunkett is useless, in fact the pairing of her and Fat Boy Down is a disaster. Both come across has full of themselves, public school educated and pompous, hardly a winning combo to entice the masses.
Its about time Chappers and Fitz took over the Terrestrial TV coverage and we got shot of Fat Boy and A Plunkett

Fitzy can be a bit annoying, but he knows his stuff and at least doesnt forget the names of the horses like Fluke Harvey and Dick Pitman
who do you suggest then Roxy??Fitzy can be a bit annoying, but he knows his stuff and at least doesnt forget the names of the horses like Fluke Harvey and Dick Pitman
Normally a fan of ratpack but the fact that Tommo had to give the rambling Hoiles the hurry-up a couple of times this morning was telling.
Alice is a good racecourse presenter because she knows about horses; no good on the Morning Line as she knows nothing about form (like some of the others).

Alice makes a pleasant change from Jimbo's arrogance, Fat Al's sarcasm and Leslie (WTF does she think SHE is - what has SHE ever done?!)
Give the girl a break... she fulfils a purpose, is good on the eye, is a stone better on form than the Ramsden/Spencer girl...and I know which I'd rather muck out... :O)PPP

Poor Alice has had a horrid time in life if you know anything about her, nobody with any sort of heart would give her a hard time. She's ok for me and good luck to the girl.

best anchor for c4 in recent years has been nick luck on the odd occ he has done it, i know that won't be popular but he practically pulls along single handedly
can't think of the right pairing, don't think there is one currently although gina will be in demand over the next few years

I agree with most of the posts on this thread in that she knows the bare minimum about racing & form. She (and the rest of the women) only ever interject with the bleedin' obvious when joining in a debate. That was a particular irritation on TML earlier. Nothing against her though, or any others (bar Thompson, of course) but some of them just do not deserve to be involved with the sport. PS - Elise...I can't stand Sick Fcuk either! Smug, patronising poly-syllabic pr*ck!

Yes, gave Madonna riding lessons.......and how many bones was it she broke in a fall shortly afterwards ?

I will pop todays presenters into 3 categories, Genius, deserve a job and should be unemployed
Genius - Thommo - Chappers - Boycie - Francome - The Voice of Ireland
Deserve a Job - Fitz - Hislop - Luck - Catt - Emma Spencer - Enzo
To be sacked - Down (pompous cretin) - Jim McGrath of Timeform loves himself - Plunkett hopeless - Weaver and Harvey utterly unwatchable

Spunky-kex.....Thompson in the genius category? Boycey too? Are you taking the piss? What little credibility you may have accrued in your tenure on this forum has now been swallowed up into a black-hole. You are now, officially a W A N K E R!!! You might as well attempt to open another B/F account with another username as you should not post on this forum again under your nom-de PLUMS!

Thommo is a legend in a buffoon type way..... love him to bits!
Boycie is brilliant in the booth, fair and measured comments what more do you want..........
Bloody hell I think this site needs Jordan & Katona..........

Whilst I'm not exactly a fan of the MANNER in which you voiced your last opinion :O)PP
I have to say I'm broadly in line with the content.
Mac is good comedy value, and has a hotline to the punter... and the public love him. People forget how much he gently nurtured Tania when she first arrived all nervous and twitchy...
Tania has the inside info from the bookies...
But many of the others just sit and prattle...
In fact the whole programme is too much chit chat now... too geared to hooking missis miggins rather than enlightening the genuine enthusiast.
Time to get back to showing a LOT of form, discussing the real merits of horses, and cut the waffle, cut the adverts - the CONSTANT cutting away during live coverage for commercial breaks 60 seconds before the off is UNACCEPTABLE - that is PRECISELY when we need to be seeing them going down, hearing where the money is piling in etc

S&M - do you, by any chance have ANOTHER username? Anyhow, he likes me giving him stick! FFS, I've only called him a w*nker! I've got an entire repertoire of insults and I thought it was rather tame.

She's had a pile of bad luck and comes back fighting each time... and is not some complete bozo: moreover, not many on here will have ridden Badminton AND Aintree!!!
I can't pretend to have WFP's looks, money or breeding... and may well have been ten years (and the rest) too old for her... but by GOD I would have lined up to fight for her hand... Not many girls can make you, at various times, want to nurture, ride off into the sunset with, laugh/drink with, cook for, bonk senseless... but she surely can and anyone who turns up in my "Mannnah" slating her will get a couple of black eyes and flat tyres!!

Nah - been betting here for years but only joined the forum recently... hoping it would be a source of useful inside info and a bit of banter...
Quite shocked at all the abuse and vitriol I've seen, but assume a lot of people speak through their wallets after a good or bad day...

I'm a relative newcomer too and I joined the forum for exactly the same reasons as you. I wouldn't mind if there was ANY humour in the vitriol, but there isn't. I'm probably your main culprit for some of the sh*t on here but I've never posted any pocket talk. I think those in the public eye that deserve criticism, should rightfully get it and as I'm sure you're aware, my oar goes in quite deep!

I agree that Alice is one of the kindest people you could wish to meet and think that some people on here should just stop being so spiteful. She's had a really hard time and bounces back and I think she is great at what she does. Very respected by all in the game and a lot of people who know nothing enjoy watching her too.

I like Alice, specially in the leather pants(trousers),Alex(ex)Hammond is pretty,Spencer woman is too thin more meat on a chip IMO. Main reason I like Alice is she once rode a winner I had quite a large bet on,and very competently too

There was a time when Alice Plunkett featured so often in this column that she earned the sobriquet 'the mistress of mishap'. Incidents and accidents included a head-on car crash on the drive down to her parents' farm - the other driver was her father - and the occasion when a horse fell over some poles and, in the ensuing melee, her ear came off. The healing process included the fitting of leeches.
