Excellent read once again. Mark puts in alot of effort and this years book is full of useful information.  Good value and would highly recommend.

People on here know I am not Mark Howard and haven't even spoke to the guy before.  All I was doing was giving his book a positive mention.

Speaking of writers who may or may not post on here, I've just read Pietro's punting low in the RP and it reminded me of a thread from the weekend...No, shirley it can't be...Grin

It is a great book, you have to keep an eye out everyday for runners, so I try and put as many as possible on gg dot com alerts, takes ages putting the entries on but worth it in the long run

Used to buy it in the early days but found that you never heard anything nobody else didn't know and were forever following favourites, admittedly used to get the interest going for the new season but punting wise not helpful imo.

I like the guy but all he does is trot out the form book when he is on RUK - rarely, if ever, anything insightful ...

There is no edge from his book as "everyone" is reading it - that said, it does not stop it being a good read and worth a tenner.

can't books like this only be classed good or bad at the end of the season ?

Early books a good read, not so now picks out the bleeding obvious nowadays

I have bought it a few times. The key for him was getting his foot in the door first. I am sure trainers wouldn't entertain any Tom, Dick or Harry requesting the information. Puts him in quite a lucky position and it has obviously given him other work.

I did speak to him on the phone in the early days and I would have thought a complimentary copy might have been nice but none was forthcoming. Perhaps times were harder in those days.

She was retired for breeding, but wqas found to have a cyst on an ovary, so will be given the year off, and may be back next season.

Have to agree the earlier editions were much better and he does now tend to go for the obvious.

Still worth the money though he does put a fair bit of work in.
