Was thinking of going to the dante on either thurs or friday, if you just go for the course enclosure at £5 is the view atrocious? is the grand stand worth the extra cash!? thanks
everything is usually good value at York. Its a fabulous racecourse which is well run and if u get the weather (and winners) there is no better place to be. Never been in the enclosure u r talking about, but if its the centre of the course the view should be ok, its a very flat course.

It depends on the weather, really. Nothing wrong with the middle if it's a decent day. The view's not as good as from across the way but the big screen helps.

If you're going then I would suggest the Thursday rather than the Friday, not only will you see the Dante but also a new group 2 for fillies and mares (only 6 runners entered but they include Sariska and Midday). The other plus for the Thursday over the Friday is that on the Friday you get a lot of 'weekenders' who see racing simply as a venue to drunk at. As for the stands, if you are a tight budget then the course is OK (although there is not much cover) but personally I'd definately pay the extra.
