It is legitimate to ride a horse to encourage layers to offer more than the SP in running, and many trainers and Jockeys have woken up to the fact.

If that is what they were doing then no I don't think it is illegal. What is against the rules is to prevent a horse finishing in its "best" position.
I think the horse in question was simply outpaced as they didn't go too quick to start and then stayed on the best - and is probably a fair bit better than the others. |

rj got off and said he thought it wanted 3 miles, willie mullins thought the horse had gears but since at hobbs he's worked like a horse that needs a trip
