nice horse but i wouldnt get too carried away, not sure we saw the best of AoA today

I'll be amazed if there's not something better than that over a mile and a half.

Definitely classy and on the up so who knows. Gave AoA 3lb and a beating today..good turn of foot..travels well in this grade. Now for the big tests..King George maybe..if successful there then Arc..if not Canadian International..or even Yorkshire Cup? Guess will try for group one over 1m 4f first..failing that Cup Horse? Some doubt about stamina but lovely horse!

You are having a laugh! Harbinger group 2 at best-will be found out at the top level especially in a fast run race.In fact wouldn't back him to beat a FIT Age of Aquarius.
Report tomdeane May 7, 2010 9:16 PM BST
Learned nothing new about him today. Aidan's horses have been coming on huge amounts for a run this year so I couldn't tie his beating of A of A too tightly. More importantly, even if the form proves to be true, I don't think a beating of A of A at Chester would make him shorter than a 12 or 14-1 chance for a normal Arc.
Report ilikewavingatbuses May 7, 2010 9:17 PM BST
AOA will stuff him next time!!wasnt impressive today imo!!
Report 718 May 7, 2010 9:20 PM BST
I would have thought that the Coronation Cup would provide as easy a G1 race as this horse could find

Harbinger that is

i think o brien is gonna clean up most of the middle distance races this yr!!i just wasnt that impressed with harbinger, considering how badly AOA would have needed that and how bad o briens are running at present!!listen i might be wrong but id have the placings reversed next time with these 2 anyway and i think fame and glory will prob be even better this year at 1 and a half!we have sariska and midday too, some really nice middle distances horses this yr, and i think last years classic generation will prove better than this yrs!just a feeling!!

gl anyway!

As an alternative The Hardwicke Stakes should also be well within his grasp.

But I don't readily see anything he should fear in  the Coronation
Report ilikewavingatbuses May 7, 2010 9:38 PM BST
well theres youmzain, AOA re opposes and i think he'd get the better!!fame and glory, dar re mi, sariska, midday i think atleast 2 or 3 of them have the beating of him myself but u kno, we wont know til they race and who infact shows up!!wouldnt be taking too short a price anyway!!id want atleast 6 or 7/1 against those if they all showed up!!proven g1 form and esp if it was softer than usual as sariska/ fame and glory would be v hard to beat imo!
Report 718 May 7, 2010 9:40 PM BST
ilikewavingatbuses, I can't crab Harbinger's 4 yo form (the John Porter and today's race)

I'm pretty sure Ask will line up at Epsom, however I would fairly strongly favour Harbinger to beat Ask
Report ilikewavingatbuses May 7, 2010 9:41 PM BST
hes beaten nothing yet imo!!the best hes beat is an unfit AOA, just about!johnny never touched the 2nd!even commentator remarked it! but he does have further progression in him!!ryan went for a fair bit today tho imo!
Report ilikewavingatbuses May 7, 2010 9:43 PM BST
mmm im not sure, only sayin this because ASK seems to like epsom!!the track might not be to harbingers liking!! would u still back harbinger if ryan was on ask??
Report ilikewavingatbuses May 7, 2010 9:44 PM BST
and yes his last 2 races hes won easy enough, but today was tougher for him and runner up will defo come on a bundle!!
Report 718 May 7, 2010 9:46 PM BST
The way I saw it AOA didn't have the pace and Murtagh knew this, thus taking it easy. I think Harbinger had plenty left

I guess it's all opinions though, and come the day, we'll have to put our money where our mouths are. GL
Report ilikewavingatbuses May 7, 2010 9:47 PM BST
ha, exactly!!

gl buddy!
Report 718 May 7, 2010 9:50 PM BST
Harbinger's a pretty handy sort. His wins have come at Chester twice and Goodwood. I don't think Epsom would trouble him.
Report 718 May 7, 2010 9:51 PM BST
Cheers!

yeah i agree but hes  yet to face a top notch fit G1 horse thats all!!just i can see the bookie having him short enough for the likes of the corniation!!
Report mactheknife May 7, 2010 9:55 PM BST
No he would have no chance in an Arc.

IMO Wouldnt even have a chance if Dar Re Mi or Cutlass Bay take up their entries. Doesnt even have Grp1 form and struggled on his only venture out of Grp3 company last year. As for the Arc again my opinion is he wont have a chance come the time the late Summer/Autumn middle distance horses are out
