with todays crowd smaller than at a wet days jump racing at southwell ithinkits fair to say the end is nigh for the sussex  course. with a £21 admittance fee  today was  even more empty than usual.im sure it will be put down to it being election day but we all know thats not the case. naturally the exuctive at goodwood missed the chance  of giving out "return   for wednesdays meetting for a tenner with this voucher" on  the previous saturdays "free day".goodwoods management fail to see that 21 quid for a midweek days racing is just turning the place into the dullest miserable, atmosphere free zone.everything that could be done to put off a crowd is done, the said 21 sovs to get in , scandalous catering prices, even a fiver parking fee and the most rude and unpleasant stewards at any race course ive ever attended.punters and bookmakers alike were all singing from the same hymn sheet "no more midweek racing at goodwood for me " so congrats goodwood for  complete and total  ruination of  the course.

i fully accept  attendances will be  lower everywhere win the current climate but other courses are not as desperately grim  as goodwood.as an oncourse bookie i  go to most of the southern meeting and i can say in all honesty the others are all better value for bookies and punters alike.some punter said to me hed paid 14 quid for  to sarnies and a tea, needless to say he said he wont be coming back.

I love the place and £21 for a days entertainment doesnt sound like bad value to me.

£50 to watch 90 mins of footie doss on a Saturday would be my idea of a rip off

i would have thought jamie mackay's ride on broughtons point was more shocking than anything at goodwood today!!!

you guys have to pay to get into the racecourse?  Did not know that.  Woodbine/Belmont/Santa Anita, etc...wide open and free. Like walking into a park.

the fact that theres  hardly a soul  at the gaff suggests   21 quid isnt good value.
Report sickoflayinwinners May 6, 2010 9:37 PM BST

i thoroughly agree. £21 is a cynical exercise in relying on subs from members and levy grant. No self respecting business prices itself out of the market. A tenner for Ascot with a wealth of entertainment, £21 for a steel band and overpriced sandwiches.Very poor and elitist. Exactly what RFC should address

£21 .... That's just, " the price of an average bottle of win."Mischief
