She changed her agent while recovering from a shoulder operation and since then has had hardly any opportunities other than for Evans and Julia Fielden.

Thks sparrow thought something must be up was shoeing them in last year !
By:
Mind u backed a few she rode for feildan last year that won
By:
Ive backed a few she's lost on this season, mainly 2yos for Evans. She seems to be getting her act together again though, hope so because we need a decent lady jockey

I noticed one day she had just one ride for a trainer who has never used her before on a horse with no chance at all. I am sure that he would not have booked her if it had a chance. It must be very frustrating for her. I have always thought that she is most underated.

No ride tomoro, one ride for evans wed, no ride thurs, one for feildan fri looks a little disapointing.

I've been a Gannon fan for quite a while too -her shoulder injury was incredibly frustrating as it followed her most successful season and stalled her progress.
I think it's clear and a shame that she doesn't get the calibre of mount her talent deserves ...compared to Hayley Turner .say. |
By:
Prob a few jockeys who think they dont get rides they deserve mate, sparrow said changed her agent after her best season seems a strange move.
By:
Must have a great chance of winning Chester's opening race on Dingle View,a comfortable winner yesterday at Salisbury and was nibbled at in the market all day against Hannon's hotpot, The Sydney Arms
By:
Yes agree was a good performance testerday not sure will beat other one he got in race
By:
Sparrow do you or anybody on here know her, how do you know she changed from last year and why seems a very weird decision as she seemed to do very well last year.
By:
Good point ...if it wasn't broke ,why try to**it ?
A capable agent should have little difficulty in selling Cathy -gives everything a good go and they do seem to run for her. |
By:
Queen Bee. It was reported in the Racing Post and Matt Chapman also commented on it. Most people seemed to think it was an odd decision but I do not remember the reason she gave for it.
By:
yes well these good jocks like Cathy Gannon are worth watching I backed both the salisbury and chepstow winner - because I have noted shes very capable and hes very good and shrewed
By:
I agree wholeheartedly. Very strong and really is a most beautiful young woman. You've either got it or you haven't and I admire her guts and determination. She comes across as driven and trainers out there should take note. Gives everything a really good ride. What she does have more than most jockeys is intelligence which compared to some of her male counterparts is quite a commodity .
By:
Thks sparrow must have been a strange reason if she had a her best season by far, should think she is feeling a bit regretful now looking at what she is getting.
By:
Liberator agree with all u say other than intelligance cant be that inteligant if all sparrow says is true after havin her best year do u know her ?
By:
I could envisage her going back to Ireland ( maybe to John Oxx again) if her career doesn't blossom in UK . I hope it does becasue as sadi above women jockeys do add colour and competition to the scene -it would be great to see herself and Hayley vying for breakthrough honours ....a la Nina and Katie in NH.
By:
I can't see her going back to Ireland as it is far too competitive there and that was why she came here.
She has not been very lucky since she came here as each time she hit a bit of form she seemed to get injured. |
By:
Needs to sort out her differences with who ever done a very good job last year imo before its to late this season.
