how there was a fast strip of ground up the stands rail at Newmarket yesterday?
All of the races on Saturday were run up the middle so those who walked the course must have thought that was the fastest ground.
Then suddenly after heavy showers a fast strip is discovered up the stands rail when Neil Callan nearly won the 2nd race on Honimiere. After that the 1000 gns was abit of a farce when most of the jockeys stuck up the middle. Even the Guinea's winner trainer told her jockey to race on the stands side if he could and then everything wanted the stands rail after that.

No they were not. That was the first thing I looked for.

Perhaps because the ground was fresher on the stands side after the first day, when they tended to race middle to far side, partly because the wind was across the course and blowing them that way.

Of course no-one wants virtual racing but it seems strange that with all of these runners and jockeys no-one spotted the ground was much faster up the stands rail. It seems all the races on Saturday were run up the middle except for the Oasis Dancer race where they were spread all across the track into 3 different groups. The winner raced almost alone up the middle but drifted to this side late on.
I just find the whole thing very odd. |

Oasis dancer was so superior to the rest of that field, he could have raced wherever and still 'hosed' up !

This is my theory!
Frosty night, you park you car next to the house, the side nearest to the house is clear because it is near heat, the other side is always frosty, because of no heat. The heat generated by human bodies may if dried the ground slighty on the rail side, leaving the other side damp and slow. |

Look, I've put myself up to be shot down, lol..
The loss of body heat on the stand side would warm the atmosphere, which in turn may effect the ground on that side. Up until a point at Newmarket yesterday they were neck and neck, until they hit the stands, then the stand side went quicker! See...what the races back. |

it's imponderables like this that makes the game what it is you want virtual racing? it's there if you want it Whilst I don't like virtual racing, sounds like you do like joke racing, swift-tuttle?. You obviously don't think much of the idea that the best horse should win? |

Anybody who backed a high drawn horse in yesterdays 1000 Guineas (with the exception of AP punters) needs their head tested.

the evidence was there too see after straw daq's race.
jockeys who tacked over too middle to far side in guineas obviously either saw the bias and ignored it or didn't see it. |

Criquette Head saw the bias and told her jockey to stay stands side unless they all went down the middle because she did not want her to race alone. As it was a small group raced stand's side, thankfully the favourite was there. But how could so many top jockeys and trainers get this so badly wrong. The difference wasn't slight, it was massive.
