Win won with plenty left in locker imo, a bull of a horse

Yes I agree...probably win Breeders Cup Classic once they learn how to ride it

Canford is clearly very talented but getting him to channel his energy in the right direction is going to be extremely tricky. It surprised me how well he ran today actually.

'The ground probably did for Canford and Hughsie said he would not lengthen going into the dip. However, he stayed the mile and he will probably go to Ascot next for the St Jamess Palace Stakes.' Richard Hannon quoted in RP

Know what you mean. Would he have stayed if they'd let him run free, we'll never know. Had to weave a bit but didn't seem to be closing on the winner no matter how hard I shouted. I think he stays a mile but will be best at 6 or 7 letting him go on.
Dick Turpin has beaten him twice now, don't forget him
Report Man From Atlantis May 1, 2010 4:28 PM BST
'Wouldn't stride out going into the dip' makes sense in hindsight
Report cwiley May 1, 2010 5:26 PM BST
canford cliffs did not produce the burst of speed over this trip, but did over 7F beaten by Dick probably would have won if he hadnt veered badly, quirky but talented horse,so what is he ? sprinter best kept to 6 /7 f the jury must be still out. Did well to finish 3rd.Dick what is he about are they both that good?. What about sectional times? we need this info, load of b***OCKS that its not practical.

My initial thoughts were that he could have been closer to the pace but you could see it was pulling quite hard at the start, so prob did well to get so close at the finish as it did, prob just gets the mile.
