LG make the best value flat panel TVs. LEDs are more expensive than LCDs; plasmas are old technology. Spent ages researching this before buying and I still haven't seen anything as good as the LG 37 inch that I eventually bought for £599.

Agree Lg are very good value, Samsung are good for the money too.

Dont buy plasma, get lcd or even better led if you have the money.

Look at the refresh rate - 50hz are crap on large screens for fast motions ie sports

penzance is right. The 42 inch LG is excellent. However, 42 incher dominated the room so returned it for a 37 incher...(must e a Carry On style joke in this)

Any particular reason why people are advising him not to buy a plasma when plasmas produce the best pictures ?.

dont wait a while 3D will take years !.

Your budget is rather low tbh but i've looked in What Hi Fi magazine and although they don't recommend any 37" in your price range they do give a good write up to nearly all the LG's and they are pretty cheap tbh - as a previous poster said,so that would look your best bet.

1080p is well worth the few £'s extra
get the fastest response time you can
size of screen is usually in relation to how far away you may be sitting from the screen and the size of your room but its your preference
HD READY is not 1080p
FULL HD is 1080p
