Why do decimal odds....

Two reasons. (1) Including the stake makes it clear to the punter exactly what he gets back if successful, also simpler with odds on chances, 1.62 seems simpler than 0.62/1 to me amyway (2) The exchanges do it, and that is important IMO.

Good answers - decimal odds produces the equivalent of a dividend forecast.

I used to be an advocate of a fractional odds display on betting exchanges and still feel sure it was the correct view at the time.

But times change and traditionalists have to accept this.

There is nothing customer fiendly about 13/8, 15/8 or 85/40.r

Dont overestimate some of the drunken aggressive thickos who attend race meetings at weekends. If your board said 3.0 they would want 3/1 no matter how simply you tried to explain it to them.

Remember, you lot on here are used to 2.0 being evens. 8.0 means you win 8 times your stake is easiest for them to understand and stop a riot on the track, which begs the question what is wrong with 8/1?

Why do they need to trial this? Surely the online books can tell RFC how many punters opt for decimal odds and how many for fractional odds.
