What was the Croc's quote in the RP?
Report Facts April 26, 2010 4:03 PM BST
....came from out of the clouds...
Report Ralph Malph April 26, 2010 4:06 PM BST
"I didn't realise there was any sort of poll in place and my inquiries to a couple of senior colleagues revealed they weren't aware of it either. Nobody has a divine right to call any meeting every season. However, having been asked by Stephen Wallis if I could do the commentary last year and him being perfectly happy with the job I did - which he has since assured me he was - I find it quite strange that the racecourses, who I think pay 66% of the fee, are denied their choice of commentator"

I think its all his own doing as loyalty is everything. If he gave up working for Morning Line and Channel 4 maybe the Beeb would help get him the gig.

Mcgrath ought to appreciate that you only keep your job if you're any good at it. He's very poor compared to Hoiles, Holt and a few others. He should consider himself lucky he's survived this long. Should be pensioned off completely imo.
Report joe39 April 26, 2010 6:57 PM BST
If Aussie Jim would like to review his performance at Aintree (e.g. the hurdle race with Saintsaire battling away with the 2nd fav at the final flight, whilst completely ignoring the 40/1 poke on the far side who was 3 lengths clear) he may come to understand Newmarket's decision.

It's very easy to become lazy when you're in the no.1 seat.

Sir Peter (legend) was dreadful for the last few years, i feel for the bloke to some extent because ultimately if you've been given the big gig because of the way you did it in the first place, it takes a ballsy move to try something new.

He's not too old to go away, think up some new catchphrases and try and win us all over.

Imho, the beeb hhave a ready made replacement in Hunty - very underated.

When Jim came over, a breath of fresh air with his commentaries at York, Ascot etc, sadly I now switch off the Beeb when hes commentating
"Giving them a fair start"
"Boxed out wide"
"Box position"
"Great pozzie"
Not for me anymore

If the Beeb had the Guineas, would they have pundits butting in at half way like they did with the National meeting? love to hear Ray "hes a nice horse" Cochrane 2 furlongs out..
