Seems you have to tar them all with the same brush.

Why did he ENTER it in the race, and RUN it, then - if the trip was, "too short."

Good evening. Owners and trainers don't run horses for punters!

"Didn't have Marco Botti down as dodgy"

If they ever re-make The Godfather, Marco would make a good Michael Corleone, imo ;)

Simple explanation!
Marco Botti saddled two in the 7.20, but while 11-8 favourite Vanilla Loan was well-beaten, 3-1 shot Val C got off the mark at the 14th attempt.

Botti's travelling head groom Keith Williams said:"Val C has been missing the break, but she got out on terms today and the return of the blinkers was a big help. Vanilla Loan was dropping back from 6f, and her recent win had come on the turf."
There you go.

You've backed a winner, halcyon, But, you can now climb down off your high horse, now .... as if none of us knew your last retort.

It still does not address the TITLE of my thread.

Tonight .... Slowly away, always 'out the back', and slowed to a walk in the final two furlongs.

Last time out .... ' Travelled strongly and soon tracking leaders, challenged 2f out, ridden to lead over 1f out, ran on strongly to draw well clear

If memory serves, didn't Hugh Taylor once make Vanilla Loan an eyecatcher because of how well she had been travelling over 7f, advising she was one to be interested in when dropping back in trip?

Funny that, drops back to 5f and can't go a yard!
