If the trip to Ireland after a hard season hasn't soured the horse, turning him out 3 days after it got off the ferry looks like it might well have done the trick.

Ridiculous thread. First of all if they're able to run after getting the ferry over to Ireland, a return trip is hardly going to take much out of them. Secondly, he hasn't had a long hard season, that was only his fifth run ffs. Thirdly, I should think Pumpkinhead is a lot better placed to judge where to run his horses than you are.

You'll be putting him in the same bracket as Jamie Osbourne next, who cannot get a horse to run a straight 6 furlongs faster than other horses with 10 lb in hand ! :|

Horses don't tend to play up at the start or refuse to race for the feck of it. Either the horse is feeling something or it's had enough or it's over the top for the season (I'd guess the latter given it's a horse that usually runs its best races fresh and it had a sod of a hard race when it won the Victor Chandler at Ascot).

Either which way, running it today was a strange decision to take with what is potentially still a top class horse.
