hardly, one jumped an extra hurdle
By:
Look at it subjectively,Tabaran did nothing wrong and therefore should be the winner. Also his jockey was not confused.Unfortunate for Danny Cook and Gaspara, but they DID do something wrong, due to confusion.Yes,the flag men have a lot to answer for,but no point at all in holding it against Tabaran.

By:
cook thought he was doing the right thing .....by bypassing the hdle
no diff to the chepstow race.....where there wasnt any arrows pointing to go round fence |
By:
Why didn't the judge call Gaspara as the winner? She crossed the line first and was the winner. If it later turned out that the horse had taken the wrong course she would have been disqualified. But many of the firms would have paid out.
The whole thing needs a thorough investigation. |
By:
How can you call a result which wasn't a dead heat a dead heat. Ludicrous!
By:
dreaming
By:
because we dont know if gaspara would have won if it had jumped the hdle
By:
the thing is, gaspara was the first horse to the flight, so danny cook was the first to make a decision, who knows if any of the other jockeys would have made the same decision if they were to act first and had seen the man with the flag
By:
idiots with the flags need sacked
By:
Meanwhile, how much will the handicapper put up Gaspara?

Broadsword - I backed a horse in a bumper which, through no fault of any jockey, got barged the "wrong" side of the hurdle wing whichmarked the track. It won and actually travelled further than any other horse but it was disqualified cos them's the rules. You can't have a rule that says the stewards can over-rule their own rules. Where would it end.

By:
Its a disgrace - the race a chepstow about a month ago, where a guy flapping his arms about made the horse miss the fence and it kept the race due to common sense prevailing... now fast forward a month were theres a man with a flag, a horse infront dead on the floor and hes done the right thing, and to top it all off it would have defo won anyway... absolute disgrace
By:
Safety should come first,fk these stupid rules, lol. The jockey did what he had to do so should have been giving at least something.
By:
it does help when we have big mouth in the booth saying this must be thrown out...because there was no arrows
By:
*doesnt
By:
If it was in the stewards gift to make some arbitrary decision on the grounds of equity, what do the bookmakers or exchanges pay out on. I, for one, would be livid if I was not given full money for a bet on Tabaran.
By:
cantthinkofaclevername.........what did cook do diff to the jock at chepstow?
By:
Not much to be fair except there was someone standing in front of the fence waving them past rather than a flagman off the course shouting something. With time to consider it as well there was no logic in going round the hurdle as it was taking the riders closer to the incident whereas at Chepstow the jockeys if they had jumped the fence would have been right on top of the stricken body.
By:
no........ nobody stood infront of fence at chepstow
By:
Sorry my mistake felt sure I saw someone waving to go round. My point is still valid the stewards had to decide on the rules and the only result could be either a win for Gaspara or Tabaran. You can't give a dead-heat where one didn't occur.

After tonight, Ringsend Rose should have definitely been disqualified at Chepstow. That's why we all need Racing For Change - like a f*cking hole in the head!

By:
silly question - did bookmakers pay first past post + amended result on this? i assume not
