hurricane fly is a machine. thought townend was quite lucky today he had such a good horse underneath him . i thought he was dossing a bit too much but hes a good rider no doubt
Report TD_Gunner April 23, 2010 6:53 PM BST
Binocular or Peddlers Cross for me.
Report robbybobby April 23, 2010 6:54 PM BST
something wrong with khyber kim like?
Report geoff m April 23, 2010 6:56 PM BST
Depends on the ground.
Soft ground Kyber Kim & Solwhit are well in the mix.

kk is in that argument before the Fly imo... Thousand stars imo would not get within half a mile of kk or bino
Report dananders April 23, 2010 6:58 PM BST
hurricane fly is classy on soft aswell . he just simply will not be beat if he turns up injury free. big if though. townend nearly caught napping today though
Report ko2 April 23, 2010 6:58 PM BST
joker i wouldnt underestimate thousand stars, wait and see next season, remember this
Report Glossy April 23, 2010 7:00 PM BST
I agree though that Hurricane Fly is the best 2m hurdler when injury free. Binoc a close second.

After those 2, you could make a case for 5 or 6 horses.
Report buddeliea April 23, 2010 7:07 PM BST
Binocular has proved to be the best around with KK a close 2nd.HF was good today, but against horses that have had pretty hard season, still has it to prove to win a CH,but he is definitely a big player now.

solwhit ran an absolute cracker i thought he has to be a live chance in the race if he has a decent prep unlike this year
Report Masterminded April 23, 2010 7:13 PM BST
I backed the horse today and was very impressed with the way he eased through the field. Course form means a lot at Cheltenham though and I can not see any horse getting near Binocular in the Champion Hurdle.
Report dananders April 23, 2010 7:15 PM BST
i think every 1s getting carried away with binocular though . hes been tested before and come up short. go native clearly didnt run its race solwhit didnt punjabi certainly didnt . binocular has gears but i cant see him beating the hurricane
Report J0KER April 23, 2010 7:17 PM BST
I only place layed the "wonder horse" so didnt have a win bet...nice horse the fly but kk and bino 6lbs in front of it imo at the mo...

its a shame the Dunguib bubble has burst so bas coz he has been a great meal ticket last 2 runs against proper horse :)

you can't eat hype

How do you come to that conclusion?? Binocular at Cheltnham when right has surely put in one of the most impressive performances in recent years. Most of the horses today didn't have this race as their primary target and merely afterthoughts, though it was HF.

To be honest I wasn't a big Binocular fan but what he did at Cheltenham was ridiculous and if he puts in a performance like that next year the others are all playing for 2nd place.
Report sageform April 23, 2010 7:27 PM BST
Even money any named horse will run never mind win this far ahead.
Report sageform April 23, 2010 7:34 PM BST
logikal, when you look back at Cheltenham was it so good? KK has looked good all season but the rest are a poor lot these days so there is every chance that a younger horse might come through the ranks by March. Punjabi is a shadow of last year while HF and Solwhit could only beat Thousand Stars (rated 144 after his County win) by 2 lengths. It is possible that Thousand Stars has improved by another 2 stone but I doubt it. I am a big fan of Peddlers Cross but don't see him as a Champion Hurdler. Binocular may win again but he is not a good thing imo.
Report Masterminded April 23, 2010 7:39 PM BST
^FFS :^0 WHAT IS A GOOD THING IYO?
Report logikal April 23, 2010 7:44 PM BST
No I agree Sageform and I wouldn't rush to back anything for the CH at the moment. But if you look where Solwhit finished in the CH and I know he didn't have an ideal prep how can people seriously back Hurricane Fly to beat Binocular next year.

Fair enough Solwhit might have come on for the run at Cheltenham and prefer Punchestown a lot more, but he was absolutely mullered by Binocular.

When you add into the equation that Mullins is on fire and so perhaps his horses are running above themselves or what form they will be in next March. How fragile HF is, not to mention whether he handles Cheltenham or not I'd want a lot more then the 5-1 on offer.
Report J0KER April 23, 2010 7:46 PM BST
u could be right norn...great to see him back thats for sure....hope to lay the hype monster again somewhere :)
