put punters off Blackstairs Mountain (had a hard race LTO) and Hurricane Fly (havent been able to get the same work into him as when he won an egg and spoon race before).

Just being open and honest - rather him say before the race than do a Paul Nicholls:
Pre-race: He's flying at home, we're delighted with him
Result: 3rd at 4/6 beaten 10 lengths
Post-Race: He missed a piece of work on Thursday and has been recovering from a leg problem

So why no mention of the gallop he did where he said Paul Townend was delighted with him and so was he in the paper this morning??? Not much use telling everyone after the race?????

Roger I must admit I had to think twice after reading his comments but it's possible HF could have been short of work and still win. This was a group horse on the flat with so much speed and the fact he was fresher than the others would offset the lack of match practise.
There aren't many trainers who could bring Que Vega back from a long absence to win at Cheltenham and then repeat the dose with HF here and how many trainers have improved their horses since Cheltenham. A remarkable performance all round.

All I know is. if he said about this gallop in the Racing Post today and that "Paul Townend was delighted and so was I", I'd have a had a bet on it and I'm sure a lot more people would have too. They all talk the talk after the race. Same with Aidan O'Brien after Yeats won the Ascot Gold Cup, he says in the interview "we knew Yeats was back to his best when he did 4 consecutive furlongs in 11.7 seconds in his gallop. It's like rubbing punters noses in it after the race. Poor show imo. At least Willie was SOMEWHAT positive about Hurricane Fly. I used to be a HUGE Aidan O'Brien fan a few years ago, but I don't like the way he carries on before races. He tels you ZERO. And Fame and Glory's effort LTO was a disgrace, in my opinion, to let the Irish Derby winner run like that. As I said befor they could have done that in a piece of work after racing. Just my own opinion and many O'Brien disciples won't agree with it, but I'm sure there are plenty of punters who agree.
