The horse is national hunt hero. he has entertained us, wonderfully well and of course he has had a few shockers.
I am interested, in the comments about the horse hating going right way round when if you look at the race many times like I have he looks to me to have a major injury, that has not yet been discoverd.

McCoy rode a belter today. The fact that Denman was so close despite his apparent disliking for today's conditions is testament to the quality of the horse imo

Kauto and Dernman. Yesterday's chip paper. Both gone at the game. Move on........ War of Attrition is the bet for next year's Gold Cup imo.

ho come of it salmon spray the STAR impressed me in the King George but there is only one ARKLE, and he is back on the cubone greatest list again
Denman is 10 lb behind his stable mate and ARKLE a 10 lb in front of the STAR.

Once Upon A Time there was a horse called Desert Orchid, who could only go around like the clock.

The modern day Denman, may not be quite as talented or versatile, but he remains undoubtedly one of the top 3 staying chasers of the last 20 years.

Let's stop crabbing him, we should applaud him, as he's doing more for our sport than "Racing for Change" will ever do.

Yawn...... get over to the Carly thread.

Saxon for some horse that could only go around the clock, he still managed a Gold cup win, and two third places, Two places in the champion chase and a win in the martell.
And probably raced more times in one season than Denman and Kauto combined as a ten year old.

Lets see how many they win rising eleven and twelve

Irony Cubone.
Two years ago there were a lot of morons on here who said he was.
At his best I think Kauto is the best I have seen since Arkle, but agree he is at least 10lb behind.

remember Arkle never FELL. in any race. and the fences were a little stiffer in the 50s.

He all but did in his last Gold Cup. If Taafe hadn`t ridden so long compared to most of today`s lot I doubt he could have stayed on.

I remember him hitting the fence chest high and did more danage to the fence than him self.

True. He was a freak tbh. Extraordinarily well-balanced. But I fear Sam and a few others would have fallen off.

usadit he was a gelding - like all steplechasers well 99.9999999 of them. I had the pleasure watching Arkle win @ Sandown in the 60s when i was knee high to a grasshopper. he won the Gallagher gold cup by 2 fences.
Although it's mighty difficult to compare horses of over 40 years ago with todays champions. He was so much better than any other horse of his time that when the Hennesy weights came all bar Mill House (his greatest rival) were out of the handicap !!!

Mchuy did an excellent job yesterday,Denamn would have pulled himself up without a shadow of doubt if AP hadn't been 100% every stride.

He HATED every minute of that did Denman.PN always new it was a chance and in his own words "you could see after 3 fences waht was hapening" Mchouys dedication coupled with the Tanks ability kept him in a race he really neevr should have run

Yesterdays ride was quite incredible, as was the horses effort in defeat, terrific effort from horse and jockey in less than ideal surroundings, ie track, ground and going that wat round.

horse was reluctant to go onto the track ..a sure sign imo that the condition COULD be physical ,he went down to the start with a group of horses ,PN was flaffing about on the track because he too (imo) knows summit is just not right ,how can a horse behave so differently on a faster track if it is not a physical problem ? the horses action on the bends and the length of time it took to straighten out and run was unbelievable ,i have never seen that before and the faster track is making the horse feel something ,joncol was pulled out and it would have been no problem for pn to do the same .some are suggesting the it could have ran on the ground if it was going left handed if this is correct and the horse has such an aversion to going right handed on fast ground WHY the hell did they go there ?

the ap stuff is just a bit of fun ,ffs he earned his fee did he not and perhaps he thought the horse was taking the pi.ss hence his determination ... so the jury should retire and deal with the facts .

ap is not to blame
horse has a physical/mental prob
horse hates going r/handed on fast ground
p/n is a joker
