IVE JUST REALISED THE FORM BOOK IS A COMPLETE WASTE OF TIME AT THESE BIG MEETS, AS THE GAME STINKS, SO YOU JUST GOT TO GO WITH WHAT YOU THINK WILL HAPPEN. THE SCENARIO ABOVE IS HOW I THINK IT WILL ALL PAN OUT

TO BE HONEST ITS JUST ABOUT LAYING FAVOURITES

Maybe A.P, will get it right, this time, lets say, 3th time lucky, thought he would have learned from the Newbury fisasco, he didn't, he tryed to (i did it my way), AP, likes to be in controll, is excelent at getting every ounce out of a horse, he bullies them, when needed, but in Denmans case, you take the roll as a passenger, for in a race like the Gold Cup, 90% of the race, gallop them in to the ground, if some can take them along for part of the race, at a good strong pace, (like is stable companion did 2 years ago, great), but he was not there this time, and Mattie Batchaler, was not setting that sort of pace, and AP, sat taking Lumps out of Denman's jaw, at the majorty, of the race and fences, and when Paddy Brennan , came there swinging, AP, decided to go, was it a mile out, was totaly done for speed, and when he went about lenght down, Denman, as whet most experanced horse do, threw the towel in, If AP had let Denman do what Denman is good at, (galloping his rivals in to the ground) AP, let a speed horse beat him, who may not has be able to have used his speed, in an end to end gallop in a gold cup, so if he runs today (ground permitting) and gets beat, we can blame on the ground and going right handed, Assuming he's there to do his best.

You start off well dd but then I am afraid you lose the plot. I agree the pace was too slow in the GC and they played into IC hands but that is not APs fault. Denman needs to be led for part the race, at the kind of pace you get in good handicaps and fortunately Mattie Bachelor went very fast when Denman won the Gold Cup.
I am hoping Notre Pere and Rare Bob go off at a good clip early on the AP lets Denman take it up after a mile. If that happens he will win however, if they crawl as they did in yesterdays Ch Chase then he will not win.
I do not agree that he is a dog, and the mindless punters who offer these opinions are just that, mindless. He does however need certain conditions to perform to his best ability, like most racehorses.

Caps off Swinstar please. You have been shouting about Denman not being good enough well, tell me who you think will beat him. You have eleven to choose from. Take your time. Put some thought into it. Relax, chill out then give it a go. Any one of the other 11, I don't mind. Make a name for yourself. You are the one shouting about now put a name where your caps lock are.

Agree with brigust here. (seems we agree on the jumps, rather than the flat ;) ) To me, there just doesn't seem to be a horse in the race that is good enough to really challenge a 70/80 % Denman, if he is indeed only 70/80 % ready for today. Joncol is obviously a very good horse, but nowhere near Denman. Denman destroyed WAF in the Hennessy giving him 2 stone, yet WAF beat Joncol in Ireland earlier in the year. The ground is also a bit risky for Joncol. Cooldine isn't in the same class and also dissapointed at this meeting last season.
I'd be suprised and dissapointed if Denman got beaten today.

Deman is obviously the form horse, I just think like every other favourite yesterday he will not win, this is what happens at these big race festivals, forget about the form book for whatever reason I think hell dog it. PULLED UP, TAILED OFF OR FALL, thats just what I think will happen.

Then next year hell run a not so good hcap, then go on to win the National

That's better Swin. But just because horses are favourites doesn't mean they are always the best horses. There were 3 Gr1's yesterday, the first won by Blackstairmountain, and he was the best horse before the race. At Cheltenham he was Ruby's choice in front of Flat Out and he was 12/1 while the favourite yesterday was General Miller who was 25/1 at Cheltenham. In the ChCh they crawled when TM refused to race hence strange result and Zaarito is a known dodgy jumper who was never at the races. The clues are all there. Today I think Denman is a solid favourite, unlike the three yesterday, and subject to the race being run properly I expect him to win.

horses of this quality and rating are very rare and should never be called a dog - yes he may not be the consistant force off his peak season but he has thrown in some great performances and Hennessey and GC are no exception...i would say he has so much in hand he could win this nicely

im with joncol today . i think denman will be in trouble going right handed and on that ground after a gruelling race in gold cup . shouldnt be there imo connections getting greedy . if hed have won the gold cup he wouldnt be here

i would say going to aintree with a gold cup winner is greedy not waiting for a more likely suitable opportunity like punchestown...given more time to recoup and be ready..just my opinion though

I'm not backing him today but he is not, by any stretch of the imagination, a dog. One of the great staying chasers of his generation and I feel privileged to have seen him win a Gold Cup and finish runner-up in two others.
