Just back in & checked my emails.. email from betfred accounts as follows:

I am emailing to inform you of a bet which has been cancelled due to an obvious pricing error. This is the bet that you placed on Gower Sophia in the 16.50 race at Catterrick today.

The odds displayed for this market was 20/1 but the correct odds should have been 6/1..

lol it just aint my millenium?! had already layed said beast for £700 at 7/1 wtf?

" heres hoping it goes for a walk in the betting? " may just let it roll said beast has question marks where the ground is concerned & its a maiden? any sensible suggestions?

Perfectly entitled I'm afraid. i would have thought you can cancel your point though if you ring through

Did you not think it was odd that you could get 20/1 about a horse that you could lay at 7/1?
Report Swinstar April 21, 2010 12:14 PM BST
£700 not been matched on that horse or am i missing something

Just back in & checked my emails.. email from bet fred accounts as follows:

I am replying to your email regarding the 16:50 race at Catterick. I am sorry to inform you that the price you took on Lee's Anthem at 6/1 was the correct price displayed and we cannot cancel the bet in any circumstances.

We note that the price now stands at 20/1 and we are more than happy for you to place another bet at the new price. I regret that we cannot cancel a bet due to an obvious pricing error if it works in our favour and we advise that your bet placed this morning at 6/1 stands.
If we can be of any assistance, please don't hesitate to contact us.

All bookmakers have rules for human error- and can either cancel bet or offer corrected price. I'm not sure it's fair.
Years ago @ Windsor we were pricing up a novice chase and I put up 40-1 instead of 14-1 when a lad came over and had 2000-50. My dad immediatly realised the mistake - laid the laddo. and gave me a lesson in life - as he refused to pay my wages.
Needless to say the horse got beat.
If someone makes a mistake on Betfair he can't have the same protection as Betfred. Funny how the games so different?

so he hasnt layed it for £700, what is the point in these freds, whats wrong with people
Report toffeeboy April 21, 2010 1:12 PM BST
I presume he meant he had laid £100 @ 7/1 = £700 liability.
Report johnn April 21, 2010 1:13 PM BST
I laid it at 7s and backed it at 20s and have a liability of 80k, but I will back it at one oh won if it wins to gren up. HTH.

Take it to a Small Claims Court.
Palpable Error is not now legal once the bet is accepted by the betting "expert" bookmaker Betfred.
Betfred are not allowed to impose any betting conditions that are illegal.
