But not in more recent times, though.
The 'Blue Riband Trial' - as the race was always entitled - does not appear in Ruf's Guide's 'Past winners of Great races' listings - and that's going back to 1929 - although the other races today, The Great Metropolitan Handicap, and The City and Suburban Handicap, both do - as this was once a major meeting in it's own right - three days in fact.

thanks onlooker, I know Dalliapour won before finishing 2nd in the Derby and Storming Home won before finishing a good fifth but i couldn´t remember anything else.
