Don't you mean the Owners , they employ the trainers and pay them a wage.

Ok owners then

I don't believe there is any limit. I may be wrong.

Transfixed has run 41 times and its barely 3 years old. So no.

I think the authorities intervened with quixall crossett ,whoever they might be (RSPCA,BHA ??? ) not sure

41 times seems a bit excessive imo .

I think so too but would need a horse expert to say whether its detrimental to the horse or not. Presumably he runs it instead of galloping it at home?

By:
Yes, Transfixed has run 41 times ..... but its trainer has only tried with it a handful of races, schooling in public the other 90%
|
|
By:
held its form pretty well tbf

I think there should be a limit because the welfare of the horse is paramount. It all seems a bit lackidaisical

Orpen Wide anyone?

For the record 133 runs so far and only 8. 133 runs in less than 6 years!

Aeroplane ran 7 times in 22 days in January

Transfixed has won over £44k in prizemoney. Alot of it in small fields over the winter. Very shrewd placing of the horse imo

PD Evans is the man for this, and dont think his record of running a horse in 2 races on the same night at Wolver has been done before has it?

In 1930 Phar Lap won a race on the first day of the Melbourne Cup carnival. 3 days later he won the Melbourne Cup. 2 days later he won another race and then won another race 2 days later.

Some horses need lots of races just to keep fit because they do nothing at home. Some need plenty of rest in between races especially if they run a fast time for the grade they are in. Denman was not aimed at this race and will probably still be feeing the effect of an amazingly fast Gold Cup. Being ten he can't take so many fast races as say a 7 or 8 year old in one season. His performances in the Hennessy and GC were incredible and if they run fast today he will get beat.

I was at musselburgh one day when a horse won the first race and then ran placed in a later race.

Don't think Transfixed is too bad really or any horses running over 1m or less on the flat it'll just be like a bit of fast work at home and so as long as they are sound they could do this every few days without a problem. They'd be doing some fast work twice a week without running, so as log as the horse seems well I think it would be fine, then when its form dips or it looks like it needs a break give it a rest.
However NH racing is completely different as if horses are racing 3m and jumping then its going to take it out of the horse and so thats why most need around a couple of weeks between races unless they've come out of the race well. Plus if you run NH horses a lot especially during firmer ground over the summer they won't last very long. |

I was watching Virtual racing before and 2 different horses had the same jockey. That should be looked into too imo

The famous Sea Biscuit ran 35 or 36 times as a 2yo

Dont think it matters so much running him now but how will he be affected when hes older? His joints etc. You wouldnt run a teenage athlete competitively every week for a year?
