I have enquired at British Racing School and gonna pop along for an induction.I have had iniitial interview and told to lose a small amount of weight and also work out at the Gym will help.I can then set about a good career.

LOL No not Irish.I need to get my fitness up to speed and as mentioned lose a bit of weight. My age did pose a problem but on the phone interview i think i overcame that so onto level 2 next.
not that easy i have nvq 1,2,3 in riding and weight of around 10'01 you get given a stable job at best without any connections.

i went there many moons ago and wasn't allowed to weigh more then 7 stone 7

I dont look young so will always look older than they expect.Is there an age limit to train as a jockey ? I was told that as long as i was keen and quick to learn ..lost a bit of weight i would be ok.
But I will say it dont seem the best approach to bettering your good name by entering a Gambling site before you have even started riding.
Agreed Luke but as i am not started yet its ok.I am worried still about my weight and age and may look into what i can do to change things very slightly.

On second thoughts given my height and weight i may in fact go as a jump jockey,maybe an easier route.

Got to say I remember he'd trade 2 flies up a wall, if he thought there was an edge ;) but can't recall anything specific about snooker. Maybe cos it's not a sport I watch much, it might not have stuck in my mind.

OK thx for your help.I guess i have a lot to learn and who to seek help from in my journey.I am most worried about my weight though and also maintaining a healthy diet.
also fudgy one of the biggest readers of this forum are the old Jockey Club now replaced by others who also look in from time to time.

once you are down to the weight you wish to be, there will be plenty of people at the jockey schools that will put you on the right road,

Absolute QUALITY fred. Brilliant mate and GL with the career ;) Look at Ian Mongoose he was only an amatuer for Gary Moore and he is a top pro married to a trainer. ;)
After a few replies from the good guys on here it has made me question my ambition and has enlightened me. I am now seeing that my weight and not my age may pose my biggest problem and am nearer to admitting this career may not be for me as losing weight is one thing but maintaining it is another :(

Sod it lads.I am never gonna do the weight :( given my current weight it would be difficult to maintain.
fudgey most yards want people that can do ten stone thats jumping yards and racing schools. If you can pull that off you have a chance to become a stable lad and with the right timeing you might get a break to a small jumps yard.
