I don't get it.
He has invested millions with JHJ, who was always an OK trainer but not a world beater, more of a sheep farmer with a couple of dozen jumpers. If JHJs stable gets a bug or lack of form then Wylie is stuffed.
Howard Johnson must have thought that all his Christmasses had come at once when Wylie teamed up with him.
Nearly all of the big owners have their strings in different stables so this has always puzzled me, and also why he chose Johnson in the first place.
Johnson does not seem like a nice guy, and why would any idiot have over £100,000 in cash in his house.
Is there a deeper story?

in the early days trever hemmings had some bad trainers he should do what he does give them to the boys in the south

Wins poor races in the north , has used Brennan , Lee and Oregan and i could name worse jockeys than them. Time to look and the trainer Mr Wylie.

I have to go along with info on this. Also his yard is just down the road from where Wylie lives and there arent too many top trainers in the County Durham area. You dont need your hobby to pay and maybe its his wife thats more interested in racing anyway.

Once more I advise you to compare the average prize money per runner of the top 6 owners. Wylie is certainly not bottom of the list and last year he was second to Ogden.
Cant see the business,equine or pleasure sense in having all your horses with one stable.

If a aguy gives a trainer just down the road a few million to waste and just wants horses winning here n there as a hobby why sacka guy for being 3lbs too heavy at cheltenham--howard johnson is the problem i think
It should also be considered that Howard and Wylie have built a huge facility togethor. Would be very difficult for Wylie to get away from that.

To be fair, he was the 2nd best jockey in the national and I think dandare's stats are based on that !

Brian Hughes will be the next stable jockey to Howard.If unavailable he will go for Peter Buchannan who was No3 there when he first started riding.
