IT amuses me that Hugh Taylor puts up Courageous - a horse that has never won over the trip, is badly drawn and prefers soft going.

I agree Thebes., well drawn and at his optimum trip looks a likely danger, but there'll be plenty of eraly pace for him to contend with and he'll more than likely help set it up for Fahey's beast.
I can assure you the ground will be on the soft side at Ponty today.

Fahey occasionally does win with "the other one" in these northern sprints.
Jimbo doesn't have a cloody clue. He's probably backing Courageous with Hugh.
Looking at the race I think Thebes is a major danger from stall 3. He doesn't have to lead and can go on any ground.

from what i can see whenever one of this yards horses is touted on here then usually the opposite happens-but then i am an old cynic :D
Poor 1st time out record, never won in this class and on a career high mark.

Racing all about opinions and good luck with yours,but cannot find for the life of me how you can fancy this horse,it is 12lb higher than its ever won off so why are you convinced this animal is not only going to run a lifetimes best but 12lb better than ever,anyway as i said its all about opinions and wish you all the luck,but its not for me

No worries guys. Glad you all got on. Thebes looked a danger for a while but this horse finally delivered on what it promised.
That's it, keep my powder dry now for the day...although I might have a dabble on Cecil's in the 7.10. Looks as though the Stoute horse isn't off..Anybody know anything? Surely if it was it'd be Evens from 6/4 not 9/4 from 6/4?
