Report OVERSEAS April 19, 2010 4:26 PM BST

Report EastLower Gooner April 19, 2010 4:27 PM BST

Report Amanda Hugnkiss April 19, 2010 4:28 PM BST
Don't think he had the time. Thankfully both are ok.
Report Cantthinkofaclevername April 19, 2010 4:28 PM BST
Eastlower - you are the idiot. Had no choice by the time he had got back on the horse.
Report Anaglogs Daughter April 19, 2010 4:28 PM BST
I think ELG means the Jockey on the loose horse should have pulled it up . .
Report EastLower Gooner April 19, 2010 4:28 PM BST

Report zebadei April 19, 2010 4:30 PM BST
i thought he tried really hard to win,and although he couldnae pull his leg thru bravely gave it a go,cant see anything wrong with what he did.
Report King of Spain April 19, 2010 4:32 PM BST
horse let him down at the last....very brave imo
Report tutan April 19, 2010 4:33 PM BST
nothing about been a hero , in a situation like that , the instinct of survival takes place . he could easily break his neck coming of the horse . that was pure instinct by the jockey , well done to his judgement .
Report yummy April 19, 2010 4:34 PM BST
We rightly lauded Paul townend for similar actions in cork a few weeks back. Horse fell because he hit the fence not because his jockey had no irons
Report DAVE1919 April 19, 2010 4:37 PM BST
I have some sympathy with ELG's view.

Trying to take a horse over a fence with one or two feet out of the irons is nothing short of crass stupidity at best. However, the jockey had a judgement call to make regarding if he could regain control of the horse in time to take the obstacle.

If he thought he could, then fair enough. If he couldn't, then he should have bailed out.

We have enough horses killed over fences as it is,without putting them at uneccesary risk.

That's my view anyway.
Report duffy April 19, 2010 4:41 PM BST
i agree with elg too, the horse was unbalanced, that's why he whacked the fence, he should have bailed out.....without doubt he put the horse at risk.
Report Anaglogs Daughter April 19, 2010 4:42 PM BST
Dave what was he suppose to do?. He had no steering all he had was reins in his hand it, once your feet are out of the peddles you have no real leverage to pull the horse(unless you are like Gannon or Winston and rode around Ballymun on bareback horses). He was either going to go over or through the fence.
Report the inbetweener April 19, 2010 4:46 PM BST
still reeling from wigans comeback imo
Report tutan April 19, 2010 4:46 PM BST
what about the jockey killing himself or been permanently paralyzed , if he tried to jump off or trampled by a horse coming from behind . the safest option at the time was trying to stay on the horse.
Report heynoodles April 19, 2010 4:49 PM BST
what a haul ffs who said we're brighter than the footie forum
