I went today for the first time and had the best day at the races ever. i thought it was going to be quiet but i was shocked it was packed, the weather was great and had quite a few local bookies from Brighton, Plumpton etc.
The racing was ok and there was quite a few horses i have backed under rules, but some of the riders need to learn how to ride, lol
Anybody else turned up to any Point to Points before?

Went last week to Tabley point to point.Never been before but it was an excellent day.Delta and Kohaku steered me in the right direction and recommended it.Lots of horses from the jumps scene their with Le Seychoilles winning the main race.Lots of stuff on for the kids and the weather was great.Top day
went to Garthorpe (quorn) nr Melton Mowbray. Competititve racing and good fields. great weather.

i had a nice bet on 'Master T' because it was a horse i used to back with Gary Moore, which lost lol and i had a nice win on the last on 'Tostig' at 3/1 so as i said it was a great day
i saw p hide fall off and get back on master t within less than 10 secs
youresomean. i hope you didnt try to have a bet with ted spreckley. joke of a bookmaker.

It's the only racing worth going to and betting on now. Bookmakers still betting to their opinions and with cash. No machine which has ruined the rest and hardly any non triers.
Love 'em - go to about 4/year. Only go to 2/3 meetings under rules.
Bit lacking in charm. Quite undulating - the last two fences and run in are up a pretty steep hill. 3 out they're bombing downhill.
LOL...sounds interesting !! where would you recommend essex/norfolk/suffolk ish (never been).
Would recommend a trip to the following:
Cottenham (Cambridge) - fair, flat galloping track with good viewing. Ex-racecourse too so worth a visit from the historical side of things.
Horseheath (Cambridge) - undulating, right-handed course. Runners gallop up hill and along the skyline before jumping two downhill fences, the second of which often causes problems and then going back uphill for 2 or 3 fences in the straight run to the finish line. Mid Div And Creep and Kelly Smith are always a combination to look out for in Ladies Open's here.
Godstone (Surrey) - undulating, right-handed track with two good viewing fences in the straight. From the middle of the course (near the line of trees) it's possible to see almost all the action. Added bonus that the day I was there there was a bookmakers van so was able to view all the rules racing too.

Yup. Was going to say that Cottenham was the best of the East Anglian bunch that I've been to. Haven't done Northaw, Ampton or Fakenham.
I like Higham because it's flat and fair, but also because it's my 'local' and I always know plenty of people there.
Anglia's not really prime PtP territory. Really you want to draw a line roughly between Southampton-London-Birmingham-Chester and go west of it (although I'm sure there're a few in the East Midlands who'd beg to differ.
AS far as EA goes, Cottenham tends to get the best horses from outside the region by the way.

Londoners should definitely head for Northaw. A beautiful rural spot so near the metropolis.

Montoria, there are only two points left in East Anglia this season, Fakenham on Sunday,and Northaw on May bank holiday. Otherwise you will have to wait untill December when it all starts again.
