Just thinking, do people not realise that bookmakers are at their most vulnerable in maiden races, which are often pretty hard to price up. If the £5 punters who nab prices overnight had the patience to hang on until 10.30am, I think we'd be looking at a far greater number of ricks in the morning prices. I've lost count of the numbers of times lately that punters lap up pennies at bigger prices overnight, effectively marking bookies' cards. Opinions?
Im sure theres many a few quid thrown away overnight marking the bookies card " incorrectly". Lets face it if you wanted to back a horse with a decent wedge you wouldnt start nibbling away overnight reducing the price would you? Just so ripe for the "clever" operators to manipulate in their favour.

I don't know if that's true Overnight. One or two of em are picking the right horses quite often, and influencing the morning show into the bargain. Been looking at this for months.

Easy for full time punters to make these points but some of us have other lives and it is either bet the night before or not at all. I would often choose SP in those circumstances but some people have no alternative if they want a bet.

Outpost is correct - 2 and 5s are not going to change a price, it is the ones that take all prices down and then come on here moaning about it and then pretending it aint them that should hang their heads in shame...not aimed at anyone by the way - but we know that it happens...the 2s and 5s punters are probably people who cannot access a pc in the day and put bets on in the evening / nights before - mno harm in that imo

Interesting stuff. I'm not really getting at people for doing it, each to their own, just pointing out that it genuinely does only take buttons to change morning prices in some circumstances. Some of the smaller firms who price up early make the odd horrendous blunder in maiden races.

Win only - Sp only 19 Apr 08:08 rubbish. a few fivers at 20 16 and 14 will make a horse 12 in the morning- when it might have gone in at 20s.
Agree, but can't blame smaller punters. Betfair should open markets on the day.
