****ing great news really delighted for the 1 / 2 of you ?

Very impressed by the 4 star win Esuvia in the 4.10.
Report 28dogs April 17, 2010 5:08 PM BST
Yes, great tipping. His 1 star bet wins whilst the 2 and 4 stars are sunk without trace.

A net loss to go on holiday with. Never mind, history will be changed when he comes to write about it in years to come.

Total and utter clown.

Could you pass my congratulations on to Birchy for tipping a 17/10 winner. He's only 4.3 points down for the day now.
Report Dan Chipowski April 17, 2010 5:13 PM BST
Can't wait for this weeks blog when we find out he didn't back any of his tips..........spotty, ugly clown.

Who gets praise on here please i have have never heard any just bitter people having a go at anyone who says they have won now and then. You can only assume people on here never win more than a few thousand and think its fantasy that anyone else can.
Report 28dogs April 17, 2010 5:41 PM BST
3 bets recommended today - 1 winner at 17/10 and 2 losers. That doesn't make him a winner by my calculations.

The man attracts ridicule by talking about after-timed winners and tipping real time losers.
Report flyingbolt April 17, 2010 5:43 PM BST
Read my lips,Everard.
He has had a losing day.
Report everard April 17, 2010 5:52 PM BST
Ofcourse he has had a losing day but when he says he has a had a winning one evryone on here says he is liying

I must say I did enjoy his greyhound tips in the dog section!**.
Report flyingbolt April 17, 2010 5:54 PM BST
It is a little difficult to believe that he backed all those winners 15/20 years ago when he is so useless now.
Report Zitadelle April 17, 2010 5:55 PM BST
QAYL is Birchy - things are that bad that he's taken to self praise.

His memory is amazing. He appears to remember every bet aided by what he feels is a fascinating story to accompany it.
Report braq98 April 17, 2010 10:12 PM BST
1. QAYL obviously isn't Birchy - those who really know wet themselves laughing at those who think they know every single time after time after time. Birchy = QAYL PMSL

2. He's kept records of his bets in journals over the years. Not hard to scan through historical data to build the foundation for a bit of copy

3. His blog is quite readable for the audience who enjoys reading it. It's not aimed at the safety in numbers invisible minority experts on here

4. He's one of the best judges at Wimbledon and has been for the past 10+ years - fact

5. Believe it or not he's a well respected face in the game

6. He's become a figure of riducule on this medium - a bad thing?

7. Im' not Birchy, but I do know him
Report slickster April 17, 2010 10:29 PM BST
the guy is a grade a numpty. laughable how he's allowed to write this tripe every week.
Report masked magician April 17, 2010 10:41 PM BST
might now buy a greyhound and enter it in the dog derby.
Report Happy Valley April 17, 2010 10:44 PM BST
maybe i'm missing something here

i've read his columns over the years and think they are eminently readable, put it like this, far worse (imo) are published elsewhere

yet i can hardly recall anyone being panned so much as he

so wtf is going on

his stuff reads all right, much worse else, yet he gets a good kicking on here virtually every weekend

birchy what have you done to evoke such extreme emotiions
Report Vieri Sharp April 17, 2010 11:09 PM BST
What has he done to be so disliked:

1) I used to enjoy his column remembering bygone days 2-3 years ago all about the dogs, his past memorys now are all about bets he wins.

2) Greyhound writer not writing about greyhounds, greyhound fans have roughly 5 pages on a saturday in the RP, him taking up half a page not writing about greyhounds is galling.

3) Aftertimer extroadinaire, his weekly blog is ridiculous, if his saturday paper tips win, hes won a holdiday, if they lose, he was busy and didn't back them anyway.
Report GetReal April 17, 2010 11:15 PM BST
Richard Birch certainly doesn't provoke indifference, the worst insult of all.
Report Vieri Sharp April 17, 2010 11:16 PM BST
For example, last weeks paper, he tips up Big Fella Thanks and Mon Mome, this weeks blog, he listened to the national (how many racing fans don't watch the national, especially if you've tipped horses in it in a national paper)

However in this weeks blog, only mentions the bet he had on BFT, who got fourth, no mention of Mon Mome. .....

Quick as you like, Do you mind if I ask you where are you going on holiday from the winnings on a 17/10 shot ? you must have had an awfull lot on if its somewhere decent. Also why did you choose to back this selection of Birchys to get your holiday money but didn't do the other 2 bets which lost ? Thanks in advance for what should be an interesting reply.

Report dieselten April 18, 2010 11:40 AM BST
Birch may be a well respected face thats fine. But why is his column in the greyhound section when he never mentions the sport and is already small enough and wastes editorial space. The post continues to give dog fans a bad deal. So get rid of his column and print the form for one of the main meetings that evening.

Report laptop larry April 18, 2010 12:12 PM BST
Quick as you like, The bahamas sounds very nice but you didn't answer my politely put Question about why you backed Birchys winning selection and didn't back the Two that lost. The bahamas must be costing you at least 4K so are you telling us all that you had over Two and a half Grand on a tip from a newspaper columnist to pay for your holiday ? I find it suprising that you can have such confidence in somebody elses tips when he is apparently 42points down on the year.
