Reasons you should bet on course please

1. you are a bookmaker and wish to suppress the SP

atmosphere and impress the birds.

A day at the races is a great day out and unless you are stupid you can almost always beat the shows at the bookies and certainly the starting price.

I go racing a lot but always place my bets beforehand. No B.O.G, No payout if horse disqualified and worst of all robbing place terms.

I like the challenge of taking on the bookie. They might have an opinion on race or particular horse that I may not agree with. Always a nice feeling getting paid out when I have called it right.

I like the banter which accompanies said challenge.

kevo you are correct every professional ive known,wont have a bet without seeing the horse.AND every horse in the first two in the betting traded at prices above here almost constantly @ Ripon today (no commission no PC )

AND this constant sniping at place terms is getting boring .yes some people offer different terms and different prices,DONT bet with them ! :) there are more and more people offering advanced terms on course i.e 1/3 12,1/4 12 4 runner races,1/4 first 4 stakes races,1/4 first 5 22 or more runner h/caps,if you still believe here is best ,im sorry youre outdated !!

I don't get though why you would pay all the expenses and be a course bookie if it easy to lay lower prices on here?

fawoon,its a mystery why some go !!personally i like to lay every horse,see who the shrewdies bet ,see the horses etc

you get more exercise
it will stop you watching re-runs of Birds of a Feather and Everybody Loves**
You eat less as you don't have you own personnel fridge within walking distance
You will interact with other members of your species ... in person
You will put shoes on your feet
You will wear clothes other than pyjamas
You will be at less risk of vitamin D deficiency as sunlight through glass doesn't work.

my message to bookmakers is this ......i can never understand why you reply to these people ,you know and i know even as a punter ,the place to be is on-course ,id love to 6 days a week but i cant- try my hardest to make 2 and i thoughrly enjoy it ,i dont have to eat the burgers ,if i want to back a horse at 5-2 and its 3.7 on here i bet the 5-2 with you guys ...but replying to these people that knock you time and time again is beyond me ,you can imagine some of these folk imagine there lives and there houses cant you so why bother you just fuel them up and encourage them to knock your integrity and your job ..........we know that if these people are sccessful ther paying 20% plus commission ...so arethey winning ...of course not .....leave them be and let them talk to thereselves ,they will go away

Yes it is highly important but doesnt mean you have to bet with an on course bookie..

Ive a account with all major bookies and take all the special offers around i.e

Enhanced Place terms
Freefall (VC)
Channel 4 free bets if winner 4/1(B365)
Taking best odds of all the bookies
Best Odds Gauranteed
etc etc and I can tell you without any question I do better this way than if I bet on course.

Im not saying don't go racing I love it just don't bet on course. Last weeks national is a prime example and licensed robbery

backing the national winner at 20/1 commission free as most did is licensed robbery is it .

first visit to a racecourse in about 4 years and was surprised at plenty of 1/4 odds place terms at Thirsk yesterday. Mind I was also surprised there was so many drunks - men AND women there. I thought I'd gone back to the future and it was Saturday.

adge. You might have done but there were plenty who were robbed. Anyway you could have got 22/1 with one of the bookies (cant remember who) early in the morning. Just look at the Betfair adveret on page 9 of today's RP to see how on course and SP punters were disadvantaged

the point is jonny that sp and the price available on course bear no relation !!

You don't have to bet on course when you are on course.
