Fahey - how is he doing it please and why no big owners still?

31 wins already and we're only in mid-April. 2007 he only had 85 all season. Unbelievable rate of improvement.

There must be a time when his handicappers become badly handicapped. They cant all keep improving. Must be feeding them something good

Fahey works very hard; singleminded. Has spent money on facilities too. Destined to be top ten yard regularly. Whether or not he'll get big owners, don't know. Johnston did it but he's the only one in the north to manage it. If you're not based in Lambourn or Newmarket it's tough. Fahey's been away in the middle east this winter, apparently ...schmoozing possible big bucks owners?

Thought it might be to do with being based up north - i mean you'd pick him above channon wouldnt you jeez.

But even someone like f indlay im surprised hasnt gone to him. Maybe some think he is too tricky for his own good?

I thought a lot of his animals would be badly handicapped after last year - I sat watching Harrison George, who had looked exposed, destroy a field the other day .....

It would be marvellous for him to get some top notchers ....

HG wasn't one of the ones that had a winning streak last year, so was prob due a win this year.

Similarly, Albaqa (spelling ?) probably wasn't badly handicapped.

GH won off 90 last September after 20+ races and then wins by 7 lengths (!!) off 95 - now that is some improvement .....

Agree PHS and it won well - I couldn't have it at the price .....

Thing he does is get rid of those that have become badly handicapped or just old and brings in new blood, often from Ireland. Dandy does the same to some extent.

Fahey is propably good at what he does but the simple truth is that its so much easier to win a race under either code in the North of England.People that cannot and i really do mean cannot train horses are regularly amongst the winners because of their location.Its almost like the all weather where solos are given regularly to horses by connections and jockeys of the opposition.Fahey to me is like a footballer scoring 30 goals a season with a championship team,its very doubtful he'd be any way prolific if he was promoted to the premiership.

You could argue that HG's improvement from a winning mark of 95 is down to running over a longer distance than previously.

Yeah winning races 'oop north' is easy - there's never anything from big stables like Stoute's, Gosden's etc coming up here!

Newmarket trainers tend to send their lesser lights up North and they rarely leave empty handed.Northern horses venturing south on the other hand are usually the cream of the crop,and with the exception of Johnston and Johnson in either code,they very rarely enjoy any success.

So you're suggesting that the reason is because northerners are genetically incapable of being good trainers or can only improve if they move south. Nothing to do with the big owners being daan saaf or foreign owners being ignorant of anything further than 70 miles from London?

ther's a saying in ireland that an all-ireland final is never won in march/april.

i just think that he is well ahead of the others at present but come the real big racing time all others will have their stable primed
