I thought the same the mole, does seem potentially a step too far. That hasn't stopped a prominent tipping service sticking him up all the same.

He ran at the festival and has just landed a decent pot at aintree. What do you need to do to earn a break from P J Hobbs?
Report Brevity April 14, 2010 1:07 PM BST
Why wouldn't he? £27,000 and he's 'backed up' before.
Report age 21 April 14, 2010 1:08 PM BST
good job hes not human, he would have to work 5 days a week

Not the best jumper either (although he was on the receiving end of a rare competent Dickie Johnson ride on Saturday) - another tough jumping test just 4 days later doesn't seem right to me.

Will be having a long break after today. Why not make hay whilst the sun shines as he is in form.
Report the mole April 14, 2010 1:14 PM BST
Good luck Roger. Hope Johnson doesn't wrestle him to the deck today.
Report Brevity April 14, 2010 1:14 PM BST
He'll only have run five times in 12 months? Hardly Commercial Flyer stuff.

Many horses don't run at Aintree after a good festival run Brev - to win a competitive handicap at Aintree then be dragged out 4 days later seems excessive to me. Maybe I'm wrong.
Report Quick As You Like April 14, 2010 1:17 PM BST
did he back up after performing in similar class race before Brev ? surely he has just had two tough races. That said, if Hobbs is happy then maybe the horse is raring to go and he knows best etc
Report the mole April 14, 2010 1:19 PM BST
Whatever happens today, Hobbs is surely one of the worst trainers in the NH sphere at placing his horses?
Report Brevity April 14, 2010 1:19 PM BST
He was second and then fourth in Class 3 hurdles within three days, receiving a poorly judged ride on the second run. I take onboard the Dickie factor, but that can be levelled at almost anything het gets a leg over on a daily basis.

Despite the odd 3 duck eggs project in recent seasons, my experience with him this year has been that he just keeps running them until something sticks. Certainly not too concerned with marks etc.
Report Quick As You Like April 14, 2010 1:25 PM BST
speaking of 3 duck eggs, Rebel Dancer entered up twice on the 18th, fingers crossed he goes for the conditional race.
Report Brevity April 14, 2010 4:09 PM BST
Dickie typically inept rather than any sign of fatigue.
Report Quito April 14, 2010 4:10 PM BST
Harsh.
