It looks to my eyes that Culhane has such a flimsy whip action - more love taps than anything else.
normally that would be a Culhane ride to perfection ;)
I remember him last season winning on on one for Midgley at Ponte, Singora Lady, he really got stuck in and got the filly up. In contrast to today, he looked strong in a finish.
Perhaps today he thought he would get there without winning too far - but misjudged it, judging by his reaction after the line.
