well those who have won 1m 2f your pretty safe hel have no problems with 2M, just questioning the sprinters, which are more successful when being moved to jumps.

Thanks in advance

Clay County might have been capable of running in a sprint.

The straight answer is no.
Most don't stay and the you never get a classy enough sprinter switched to hurdlers.

Red Rum

dead heated in a 7 furlong race (L. Piggot up) . Think it was a seller. Will need to check due to failing memory due to advancing years.

Ekbalco.

Dudley Moffat said that he was the fastest horse he ever saw and would have had no trouble winning a decent race over 5 furlongs. :)

Jesus, just glanced through the posts while checking the golf markets, can't believe people are talking about this but for what its worth ,Yangtse Kiang was a career h'cap sprinter before becoming a useful 2m over jumps, particularly as a h'cap chaser.

Orpen Wide won over 5f several times as a 4 and 5 year old (has won over a mile on the flat though) and has also won 6 times over hurdles and 3 times when chasing at 16-18f as well as placing 7 times in total in NH races. He is a freak of a horse though and amazingly has run 132 times in his career so far and he's only 8. Not an amazing horse in terms of abililty but proof that it can be done I suppose.
