If you dont know how to use nicks work by now you never will m8.

November analysis follows .

DON'T PUSH IT A SERIOUS GRAND NATIONAL PROSPECT

I suggested after his seasonal debut that DON'T PUSH IT (39) would do much better over a longer trip. He proved me right by staying on tremendously well in the valuable Servo Trophy over nearly three and a half miles at Cheltenham's Open meeting. He fairly stormed home from the last but couldn't quite get here, losing by a rapidly diminishing half length.

Don't Push It was hunted around by Tony McCoy in last place for most of the race but moved up smoothly coming down the hill approaching the third last. Unfortunately he collided in mid air with Russian Trigger jumping that fence and was turned sideways on landing. He had to get going again and did so in style. But for the mishap he would surely have won.

I liked the way Don't Push It navigated his way through traffic, recovered so well from being hampered and stayed on strongly in what was a stamina-sapping race. I can easily picture him doing very well in the Grand National after this performance. Indeed I'd say he's the best Grand National prospect we've seen so far this season.

Don't Push It certainly looks the best Grand National prospect Jonjo O'Neill has had since Clan Royal who ran second and third in the Aintree marathon. Clan Royal was given a very light campaign both seasons he placed in the race and was switched back to hurdles to protect his handicap mark, just as many of the top Irish candidates for the big race are. So I'd bet on Jonjo going the same route with Don't Push It who actually showed smart form over timber last term when he ran second to Fair Along and Big Buck's, two of the top staying hurdlers.

His selections are normally karp but his post race analsis has no equal. N.A.P. ;)

JC, that's a good call. His analysis is excellent but he can tie himself in knots with his selections. His reports and weekly updates are compulsory reading, whether you believe them or not is up to you.

Following his systems and trends are a sure way to the poor house. Read his notes, watch the race in ? and try to understand his interpretation. If you can grasp the nettle and it all adds up then factor in his work into your own analysis. It can sometimes be quite useful. See bobby dazzler thread on the ante post forum for further insights. ;)

Good Night.

I am just 'balancing the books', Julius. ... as, whenever he has one of his 'out of the clouds' winners ( which he will get from tome to time due to the plethora of tips that he puts out) his systematic followers - who mostly wouldn't know which way up to hold a Form Book - come out of the woodwork to sing his praises in their giddy excitement of actually backing a winner.

I know all about Mordin, from the early 1980's onwards.

well regardless of November, I have the Weekender here in front of me and it says "The Ultimate Grand National" system. He advises 4 horses and Don't Push It isnt one of them. Weekender buyers King Rollo must feel very sore after that.....

I like Mordin. But JC is right don't use him as a tipster but as an analyst of performance, speed and conformation. He is idiosyncratic and so his tips tend to be either spectacular or disastrous. Like all trends followers he got the National badly wrong.

SARISKA A SILLY PRICE FOR OAKS

When she won the Musidora SARISKA (36) earned a speed rating from me that's just not good enough to take an average renewal of the Oaks - even when I adjust my rating to take into account the sprint over the last three furlongs. As I see it there's no way she should be favourite for the big race on the basis of this run. It was clear from watching the race that she was much better suited to the sprint finish than any of her rivals. In addition her physique and pedigree suggest strongly that she won't get the mile and a half at Epsom.

Sariska is a very muscular, good-bodied sort that's built top produce a lot more speed than the three staying types that chased her home at York. When the race turned into a sprint over the last three furlongs it gave her a huge advantage. Even so she had to be driven out to score and got unbalanced briefly before straightening up and going clear in the last furlong.

Sariska has the build of a ten furlong horse to my eye. And it's surely significant that the 25 best performers by her sire Pivotal, as judged by Racing Post ratings, all failed to win beyond a mile and a quarter. He was Champion sprinter, so it takes one heck of a lot of stamina from the dam's side to make his progeny go longer. You could argue that's the case with Sariska, but her physique says otherwise. Besides you have to wonder how she's going to handle the gradients at Epsom if she can get unbalanced on a dead flat track like York.

You have to cherry pick. Never follow blindly as it will ultimately end in tears. Many of the high profile tipsters give out 3 or 4 tips a day. They aint backing them ( maybe arbing ;) ) . Madness. The losing runs will result in tipping shorter prices and taking breaks in order to recharge the batteries. Ultimately they are no better or worse than you should be if you are getting involved in betting full stop.

This tipster guff gets right out of hand imo. Many of these guys wouldnt go near placing a bet as the pressure in actually losing will kill them. Take slyboy, I doubt he has had more than a tenner on for years.

With Mr M the case is as clear as crystal, read his work post race. Re run the race in ? several times. See if you think he has an angle. If so use it to your advantage.

I have said on here many times before, I have been betting on horses for well over 30 years now and in all that tme I have found only one guy who is worth entertaining and that is Mr Mordin. Sure, Hugh aint bad and neither is seagull but they have boundaries with which to work within, deadlines to meet and ultimately win or lose they are back the next day. 1 point here 1 point there and so on. Fine for the recreational punters i suppose but does little for the hard and fast professionals who must curse the occasion when they put up one of their own fancys. ( Unless they are on early enough ) .

Writing your thoughts and beliefs onto the public domain means you will sometimes be subject to ridicule and damnation when you are wrong, however, by doing this you can look back and see the pros and cons of what you are producing.

From a personal perspective I would far rather have someone offering a view which may stimulate me into finding my own angle than someone throwing me a tip so to speak.

Anyway, long live Marmite Nick and his somewhat bizzarre tangent thinking, as I for one would find it far less stimulating without having his thoughts to ponder and no I didnt back DONT PUSH IT. :^0

But I did back IMPERIAL COMMANDER in the GOLD CUP ;)
