hopefully he comes here relatively fresh if none the worse for the fall at cheltenham at the 5th.
finished 3rd, 4th and 4th in graded company. he finished 4.5l behind pandorama in leopardstown where weapons amnesty was was short headed for 2nd. weapons amnesty won cosily at cheltenham. 5th that day was china rock a further 3l back and this one ran a cracker in the jewson. he is unexposed over 3m and i think this is a trip that will suit more.
dessie has sent 8 runners over fences to the course (5 to this meeting without a win) but the 5 that finished their races (2 fell, 1 PU) all were in the frame - 2 wins, 1 2nd and 2 3rd's.
Dessie Hughes, trainer: "He will appreciate the drying ground. He fell at the fifth fence in the Jewson at Cheltenham, too early to tell where he might have finished but at least he had no race as such. So with better luck, he should run a good race."
Thought I'd throw in RP quote for good measure.

Nicky Henderson, trainer: "He's had a busy old season and that's a bit fo a concernn, but he shows no sign at home of going off the boil as as he's the same as he always is. I'm full of admiation for him as he's surprised usall and has never stopped improving. He shows tremendous tenacity and enthusiasm for the job and he's as tough and honest as any horse you could come across." Dance Island
Ben Case, trainer: "He won very nicely at Warwick, and although he was perhaps a little disappointing at Leicester he doesn't like going right handed and stumbled on landing at the last down the back and couldn't get back into it. He travels and jumps well, and although he's up againts it the tight left-handed track will suit him." Door Boy
Howard Johnson, trainer: "He likes it round here and we are upping him in trip to three miles. He's shown no ill effects from his Cheltenham form and doesn't seem over the top. He looked well when he schooled yesterday." Khachaturian
Donald McCain, trainer: "He ran a screamer behind Ballabriggs in the Kim Muir at Cheltenham, and although on ratings there are one or two too good for him he's a tough horse who is sure to run his race." Knockara Beau
George Charlton, trainer: "He hasn't always jumped as fluently as I'd have liked, but he's run well every time and been unlucky to run up against some of the best novices around. He won a good bumper at Aintree, so the track should suit him, and I don't think the ground will be a problem." Lenabane

Jimmy McCathy, rider: "We were very happy with the way he ran at Cheltenham, as a novice ina handicap and on a track that didn't play to his strengths, and althouth you never know quite how much a race like that takes out of them everything about him when I schooled him on Wednesday suggested he's in good form still. He's a Grade 1 winner at Aintree, so the track suits him, and we are hoping for another big run." Song Sung Blue
Joe Tizzard, rider: "He went up 17lb for his last win and has improved for going up to three miles. He hasn't been in top-class races yet and he does have a bit to prove in this company, but it would be no surprise if he finished in the first three or four."
I'm bored and thought I'd share the rest.

brian, i thought Ogee was interesting and has to be feared going left handed but he tends to make mistakes in this company and this course is unforgiving. he won well here over hurdles last year but i have a feeling that if he makes mistakes he wont really see out this trip.
burton has had a tough season and even though i love the horse I am not convinced by him. only 10 runners tomorrow but all his chase wins have had a maximum of 6 runners only. i think softer ground may suit better
i wouldnt rule out Take The Breeze or Door Boy either though.
at the prices I will remain confident and take my chances on lenabane

Is a really tricky race.. just no idea which horses are going to come out of Cheltenham better than others. I guess Lenabane falling may prove to have been a blessing in disguise as it was only at the 5th so you would hope it didn't take too much out of him.. and we don't really know how much better/worse he is going to be on the better ground. He did seem to like it at Fairyhouse over hurdles last April though.. 12/1 worth a punt anyway, good luck with it. Think Burton Point's price is pretty stingy, if he was 3/1+ then maybe I'd be interested.

If he completes Knockara Beau will win this, rate him very highly but fences do seem to get in the way. Has a huge engine, and would win G1s if he improved his fencing.
The stiff fences are a concern so i will will hide behind the sofa when he comes to every obstacle.

One at a price that I like the look of is Door Boy (currently 16.5) He ran at Cheltenham in a Novice Handicap Chase (G1) where he made an early mistake and then fell 4 out (Lenabane also ran in this race). he has won a Novice Chase here back in October of last year over 2m 4f having blundered 4 out (good ground) allbeit a 5 horse race. He has since won over 3m at Newcastle in Heavy ground beating Fabalu who has since won 2 races.
The distance and ground won't be a problem and with Johnson's very good record with Non handicap Chasers at this course (8/17 since 2003) and in particular his record with Non H/C Novice chasers (7/12 in the past 5 years) Door Boy can be expected to run a decent race.
This is my selection. Good luck with whatever is yours :)
