I think it was on Monday or something, however, the trainer Murphy said this:

'At the moment, if one horse comes out then Silver Birch, who is 41st on the list, gets a place in the John Smiths Grand National and Cerium would be next. If that happens, I will withdraw Mr Pointment to get Cerium in the race. Of course, if nothing comes out, Mr Pointment will run.

"I know that Howard [Johnson] is also looking at the same option - he has Abbeybraney (no 40) in and wants Royal Rosa, who is listed one below Cerium at 43rd, to run instead. So it could be that if one horse comes out, there will be three new runners in the John Smiths Grand National on Saturday'

Well today 2 new horses entered the national, in the form of Cerium and Royal Rosa. Silver Birch will run today, whilst Mr.Pointment was withdrawn and Abbeybraney also withdrawn.

The trainers have to by the rules give a reason. Am I the only one who feels like the reasons given are a disgrace?

The reasons were:
'Both trainers had to supply reasons why they were making the withdrawals. Murphy issued a veterinary certificate to explain Mr Pointment's absence, while Durham-based Howard Johnson claimed Abbeybraney had not eaten up overnight. '

I know that respectively they are both outsiders and in the long scheme of things it may not matter. However, how can trainers blatantly b.u.l.l.s.h.i.t their way out of things.

Yesterday was all saw a farce at Leicester (and no I did not have a penny on the race) and today we see this.
