Not the former England football manager, but Graham Taylor, former editor of the Sporting Life, who has died aged 80. For those of us who had the privilege of working for and with him, his passing will be a sad loss. He was never happy working within the Maxwell regime but he made the best of it because morale in the Life office was always good during his short time as editor.

There's a good appreciation of Graham, by Jeremy Chapman, on the news section of the Racing Post web site; if there any ex-Lifers from the Taylor period, I'm sure they will join me in mourning his death

I am not doubting your sincerity but it has been a trifle diluted with your "catch all" title.

His name was Graham Taylor and he's died. Couldn't be more to the point than that.
