Are Insurance COs the same as bookmakers ?

I have received my home insurance reminder. Then I started to consider it - why do we all pay insurance companies huge amounts of money for home insurance when they will pay you a maximum £75 k if some scallywag decides to rob you. Then if they do 5000-1 agaist per year i would say. the insurance Co send a nasty loss adjuster over to intimidate you. Sounds like this lot are bookmakers
