advice on Aintree parking please

go by train.... so much easier!, parking not good.

P.S you will find that Thursday is one of the best racing days of the year.

Friday will be great for eye candy... but the women do tend to get in the way a bit!!

I would go on the train if I were you, there are special trains laid on every 15mins each way and there are major roadworks going on in Rice lane which is murder at the moment..

Theres a park and ride scheme usually

The roadworks start at the roundabout just before Walton hospital and Sainsburys right up to the juction by Walton jail, it is the main road into Aintree from town. You can't get to Aintree that way, there is a diversion around Bootle, Orrell Park.

Go on the train, have a drink, pick some winners then have a laugh on the train with all the leggy lovely's back into town..

I'd check about the park and ride schemes if I were you. I'm fairly sure that previous park and ride schemes are not going to be in operation this year.

If you're staying in Wirral then a train into the centre of Liverpool and then a train again to Aintree is straightforward.

No park and ride facility at Aintree this year, very disappointing lack of organisation by racecourse.

what size of wheels/tyres 195/55/16 ,s and below are ok any bigger and you should take the train

wonder if mccoy will park denman on top of one of the fences same as he managed at newbury

there was a load of info on a fred last week ,some good info about where to park as the park and ride has indeed been scraped ,without sounding rude i might suggest that if you cant find a parking space you have zero chance of finding a winner

b and b we always used to park just down from the track but over the years they have made it harder and harder to park anywhere near the course.i am pretty sure we will find somewhere to park ;) as for finding winners your probably right :).

The trains down to Aintree on the Ormskirk line are setting off 2 minutes earlier than the timetable shows to allow the volume of passengers to get off at Aintree.

This is to allow the trains to reach the end of their journey on time, so don't be on the last minute.

for those driving, it will be a mare tomorrow, without the park and ride. You wont get near the course, especially Fri/Sat.

I would suggest those driving make plans to possible park................possibly at Asda aboutt a mile up the road to the course. Alternatively, there is a small retail park on Dunnings Bridge road, loads of parking there, its about a 10min-15min walk then to the course.

And whichever way you travel, don't forget to allow yourself an extra 15 -20 minutes as you have to form a queue to get through the airline-style security system.

On the Saturday, allow an extra 30 minutes.

2 years ago I took my late mother, and she was terminally ill at the time. Went on t he train and arranged for a taxi to meet us on the main road at a certain time. Seemed like the best way to do it as I didn't want to risk the crowds on the train at the end, but going there they are more spread out so it is not so bad.
We had a great day and she backed the winner! The arrangements worked well. Had a nice taxi driver so next morning got him to take us a tour of Liverpool to see the city.
