Went to watch the 120 at Lingers today and was there a bit early and they must have had 6 virtual races in the space of about 5 minutes. No wonder fellas have been driven away from the racing. Take a look at this Racing For Change

Whatever we think of horse racing as individuals to the uninitiated it's a total bore and there's far more exciting ways to lose money available these days and quicker which is what the modern gambler wants , horrible thing to admit but horse racing the traditional way we know it is on such a massive decline it's already impossible to recover , for every race follower that leaves this earth there is little chance of replacing them from the modern era.
Report Cantthinkofaclevername March 5, 2010 11:06 PM GMT
Yes they are cynical places if you allow them to be. But also they allow a lot of poor lonely old men to sit and watch the racing for nothing, keep warm for nothing, read the paper for nothing and even get a cup of coffee from time to time.

virtual brothels

very similar to virtual dogs
Report toronto44 March 6, 2010 1:27 AM GMT
Cantth they also allow a lot of poor people to lose what little money they have even their dole money. They are designed to take money from the uneducated and poor.
Report all over March 6, 2010 1:29 AM GMT
agreed toronto
Report Hayden March 6, 2010 1:49 AM GMT
freedom of choice , by the same token why let the 97.5% losers on here continue losing cash , no better chance of turning it around than anyone visiting a betting shop tbh and betfair need as many losers as possible to feed the 2.5% winners , wherever there's gambling there are mugs whatever the source.
Report thegiggilo March 6, 2010 3:02 AM GMT
Correct ;)
Report toronto44 March 6, 2010 3:19 AM GMT
Wrong...freedom of choice is always the argument the rich and privileged use to steal from the poor and uneducated.

The big difference between Betfair and virtual racing and even more the FOBTs.Is that while Betfair can be adictive to some,it is designed as a punting vehicle for all types of gamblers, rich, poor, sophisticated and mug.The cartoon racing and FOBTs are designed to suck in and make adicts of the poorest and weakest.Bookmakers like Hayden know this and that the money flows directly from the poor to the rich and greedy. Its wrong but some people will always be happy to exploit others if it means they can live in increasing luxury. One day they may have to justify it to a higher power.
Report Owen1981 March 6, 2010 3:22 AM GMT

Corb earning his pieces of silver again, defending his bosses.

Bookmaking used to be a job like any other job( always a few bad apples like any other). Now it is all about stealing as much as you can from the poor and adicted and ripping off your old regulars by not taking bets from anyone who does not empty his pockets for you quick enough.

To be a bookmaker now you have to have no concience or morals.Track bookies not included most are OK in my experience.

Popped in a shop a few weeks back and they even had virtual motor racing, 'commentator' tipped a loser for good measure. Seems to attract all sorts of wasters playing those roulette machines... cannot even use the toilet now wihout been given permission and a key..

not the point, i know, but the over-rounds on the cartoon dogs are a lot better than the BAGS

Reg, you are not comparing like with like. On the cartoons it is an actual margin, BAGS is theoretical. In practice there is little difference in the profitability.

Think about it, would the bookies be pushing alower margin product/
