Island Brave came 3rd in this last year but was demoted to 4th behind the
current jolly Rajinsky who was 4th.Not so sure Rajinsky would've beat him
meself.Even allowing for Davies' claim Island Brave is 7LB better.Benoit De La
Sayette has been booked,claims 5LB himself.
He also gave him 5LB and a 3L+ beating when winning a 14F H'cap @ Hay' (G/F) last year.
Island Brave is also a C&D wnr,(97),he goes off (98) in this.Valley Forge the 2nd
in the mkt just got up when winning LTO but he's done all his racing on turf but
he should go well if taking to it,looks to be improving still.The top stayer Trueshan
could'nt win this carrying 9-13 last year,he was 6th. He has to shoulder 10-8 this time around.
Has to concede 27LB to the selection.
That makes him 11LB worse than last year with Island Brave.These might have more to
come than Island Brave,who's now 8 but they have won in the past & last years wnr was 9yr old.
Was'nt disgraced @R.Ascot ether LTO after a break,(14F H'cap) & although was 10th was btn around
5L,when up with the pace most of the way.He was not that far behind the likes of Cleveland,Okitaka Suishi
& Stowell,all Ebor horses.This horse is 3x the price of the front 3 and on last seasons running of this should
be shorter ,imo.Got E/W claims at least to me if reproduces that run.A cracker of a H'cap.
Around 25s+ here but agian not much available & 20-25/1 books.

Very nice write up Penzance. Definitely has EW written all over it.
I also fancy the one that got in at the bottom - Solent Gateway. Fits all of the relevant stats apart from not finishing top 5 LTO - however, that was only over 12F at Epsom, and it was very short of room for loads of the straight. 2 attempts beyond 12F so far - won at Chester over 16F and looked like it pulled too hard in the Chester cup last time it ran over a comparable distance. Palmer has a decent record at Newcastle and it wouldn't shock me if this ran a blinder under a low (Trueshan-assisted) weight. Good luck! |
