For me personally it has no relevance. I'll leave others to ponder over it (curious as to how they factor it into their actual betting on the race). If Native Trail is beaten it'll either be because he's not able to replicate his best 2yo form or another horse has improved past him. I won't be using the draw or ground as an excuse.

Backed Native Trail. A repeat of his Craven win time should be good enough.

NT looks like a Zafonic to me - the other Appleby must be good too otherwise they wouldn't be running it

I backed Native Trail and no excuse with the better horse winning. Time wise I can't rate it higher than just an average Guineas. Not too bothered about underrating Coroebus. He was lightly raced, wasn't fully extended last time so the potential was always there. Annoyed though that I overrated NT a few pounds. I thought he was already a few pounds better than an average winner, but he clearly isn't.

I disagree - the first 2 are both better than an average Guineas winner IMO. Noone knew how good Coroebus was - except the Appleby yard who had to run a horse they thought might be even better than NT.

A_T, well I now believe I was wrong about NT at the Curragh (even more annoying as I originally had him on the same lower figure as I have him on today, then revised him upwards), so I could easily be wrong again. The more races a horse has under its belt though the less likely I am to be wrong, and I don't think I am here. There is enough solid information from the races on today's card to make reliable comparisons. I'm not saying Coroebus is a poor winner, we haven't really had an above average winner in the last few years, but I don't think he's any better than Kameko, Galileo Gold, etc.

I thought the third, praised for making third, held it s head a bit high.  Wouldn;t be keen to play it next time until I see it go on and win.

The 1st 3 home today were probably the best 3 2yr olds

The Godolphin horses are top class milers.

Native Trail in particular is a horse I'll be looking to oppose in future, regardless of whether he faces Coroebus or not. Hasn't improved a jot from 2 to 3 in my view and likely to regress.

NT is clearly not a top class miler.

His form was totally overrated and his price today ridiculous. The race was sub par. The horse with the best turn of foot and bred down the lines of a Guineas winner duly obliged and was well deserved.

TMB I hope you took my advice and prepared yourself for NT beating the Ballydoyle colts - I just didn't think they'd be looking at 2 godolphin backsides

Had a great day thanks AT. It was obvious from the betting that Luxembourg wasn’t expected and there was plenty of 6/1 available. Had an each way bet to nothing so all good. I just feel sorry for the punters who ploughed in on NT. Forgive them as they know not what they do and I hope you took my advice. I think you will find breeding very relevant and hope you learned something.

I would'nt be so quick to dismiss Native Trail.

What's it running against AT. If it's Claymore it might scrape home. There doesn't seem much about over a mile so it will be a small field non event.

When a horse bred for middle distances can fall out the traps, stumble badly and give away ground and can get within 2 lengths of the winner I put that down as a pretty good performance and an excellent trial for the Derby.

There was only 3 horses in contention to win the race. I think it was masterful tipping to opposes the jolly. Obviously you were balls deep on the Fav.
