Like the Tingle Creek, no chance of Shiskin running here against Energumane

£262 now wanted at 4.5.
A market where inside info is really valuable. Free money if Shishkin doesn't run. Fantastic price you can lay off at Evens or so if he does...... |
By:
Shiskin does not need another run pre festival and I doubt it will have one.
I was seriously impressed with the win in the Desert Orchid , a little like Altior had to be ridden for a few strides ....and then zooooom. Just like Altior the uphill finish at Cheltenham will be the deciding factor in the race...... |
By:
much preferred this race as a handicap .
By:
Yep. Desert Orchid vs Panto Prince. I think Shishkin is almost a near certainty non-runner unless Energumene is an absentee. I might lay £23 from 3.45 to 3.55.

Has it reached the stage where other trainers know they can stop Henderson from running his best horse by declaring a viable opponent? If Hendo is prepared to take on Energumene at Cheltenham then why not at Ascot? And is Energumene the best rival to Shishkin?

Shishkin matched at 1.7 now. Looks very interesting. Be great to see a match up before Cheltenham.
Seems like a game of chicken, with each team trying to get the others to pull out.....see who blinks first. |
By:
Of course Mr Mullins will chicken-out if Shishkin is present. Mr Mullins will never duel with Shishkin away from home. It's not in his dna.
I hope all is good with Shishkin between and the race, with/out Energumene present. |

If you lose a prep race it doesn't mean you'll lose at the Festival.
Ground, course, left handed, right handed etc etc.....In fact you can learn a lot to try & win next time. Hope they both turn up, First Flow might not get soft ground, but good to see him in the mix too. |
By:
Energumene can jump right so this is the perfect track for him to try and beat Shiskin.
Not much rain about though isn’t ideal for him. |
By:
Joe Donnelly is a major owner in Mulin's yard as well..they'll know exactly what's happening
By:
drying ground maybe willies excuse
By:
I don't think Energumene has any chance of beating Shiskin.
If Chacun Pour Soi had not gone pear shaped I think he would have been aimed at the Ryanair. His finish at Kempton was even stronger than Altior's ....and his flat spot was a lot less pronounced. The next dual QM winner .........none will ever match the one and only Badsworth Boy. |
By:
Energumene has been backed from 7/4 to 5/4 for the Dublin Chase, in 2 weeks time. Does this mean he won't turn up?
By:
We've been pummelled by the Irish the last decade but we trust in Shishkin. Odds not too bad when you look at his Arkle run.
By:
I'm looking forward to this. Should be fascinating.

Luke Harvey just said Henderson was proved right not running Shishkin in the Tingle Creek as “if he’d run there he would have been out for the rest of the season”. Where’s the professional attention to separating conjecture from fact? You wouldn’t hear Kevin Blake spout that sort of horseshit.
By:
Only repeating exactly what Nicky Henderson said.
By:
It'll be great to watch. Particularly with reference to a rematch at Cheltenham, all things being well.
A very different test today to March. |
By:
Epic race. More to come.
By:
Outstanding in lots of ways, particularly the sportsmanship of Townend and Mullins. Energumene went best for 95% of the race so defeat must have been bitter.
By:
So the exchange has Shiskin @1.97 compared to most bookies going @1.67!!!
Is Shiskin injured? Or are people just trading out of good positions? |
