Seeing Windsor's on ITV today made me think of summer evenings many years ago, when me and my mate used to go to Windsor for the last race, which was always a maiden and invariably won by the favourite. What's more, the gates were open before the last and we got in for nothing. Eventually we think that bookmakers got the maiden replaced by a handicap as no doubt they were fed up with paying out on the "lucky last". there are 2 divisions of the maiden today at 12.45 and 1.20, I wonder if it will be just like old times, will the favs oblige? Unfortunately I wont be there to have a punt, nor to have a pint at the Bells of Ouzeley in Old Windsor on the way home, I'm stuck in Thailand until September at least.
