Really disappointing entry imo. Very soft ground likely and plenty of these are doubtful stayers.
Not sure why Happy Diva has been withdrawn as would have had a greta chance of doubling up. Brelan D'As is solid enoguh I guess and 10/1 is fair but he looks beatable up 5lb and on the stiffer New Course.
Keepers Hill was another who looked a reasonable e/w shout without be being very enticing.
I'll probably throw a few quid each way on Guitar Pete on Saturday (hopefully with 4 or 5 places on offer) who ran poorly last time in the Bet Victor (was ridden more prominently than usual) but who has an excellent record on the New Course and in this race.

Spiritofthegames is one to take a look at . He likes the course, distance is no problem and he is well weighted on course form . Representing he puts Siruh du Lac in here with less than 11 stone . 25/1 at the moment .

Most books are refundin AP bets on the fav.
It's a bold man who backs spiritofthegames based on his two runs this season, but I suppose he is clearly better than that and if he does turn up its a nice price.
I'll go with Clondaw Castle, but will wait for the first couple of races to be run as he wouldn't want it any softer than it is now.

Soft (gd/sft in places)......no doubt changed after race 2 to soft (heavy in places).
Not many of these will appreciate any further rain,that for me might be the key.
Not That Fuisse..... Looked a handicap blot when I first looked at the race,yes he,s inexperienced,but on decent ground he would have been the selection.Watching brief on him today,if there is one in there way better than current mark,he would be my idea of that horse.
Brelan D,As ...... Ran a cracker lto,gets the penalty,he also should have no problems with deeper ground.Trainer is a master at keeping them sweet,on balance needs to improve further to take this.
Cepage......Clobbered with the 8lb rise for getting beat at Aintree,It does make you wonder if Venetia was straight on the blower to the handicapper,that looks harsh.
So he arrives today giving weight to all,in a hot looking handicap,I,m hoping he can.
Conditions will really suit him,superb 2nd last year on good ground,horses like Baron Alco /Rather Be were beaten 18l / 21 lengths in that renewal,a form line continued when Frodon ran a lifetime best at the Festival.
There is a world of difference carrying 10-05 last year to 11-12 today,thats beyond question.However,the signs suggest his trainer has finally got him right,able to turn him out just a month after that promising comeback.He could be another of those horses that benefit from some time out of training mid career.
Rated 155,he,s approaching no mans land handicapping wise,at the age of 7 theres no point in messing around,lets see how good he is with conditions to suit.
The pipe horse looks likely to force the pace,Cepage jockey needs to be mindful that its much harder to make up ground when softer,similar to last years ride would be fine.Still not convinced re this lad,thought he got caught napping on Eminent Poet at the last meeting,time will tell.
Always a decent race,a safe return for all of them is all you can ask.

I suppose my lethargy is a symptom of the lack of decent traffic in here. I'm still trying to chip away though. I hope you're still winning?
Promised myself no ante-post this year, but obviously that didn't last long! My CGC book is strong however, the other bits n bobs I've had are a mixed bag.
I agree, great shout by Dunlaying and unfortunate not to win, I got that one very wrong! Although given that he drifted from 25s to 40s before the off, I'm pretty sure the stable are guessing with him too.

One or two have ran ok this early in the season.
I can confirm plenty will also be taking up their Nativity entries in the coming weeks.
Agree it does appear on the decline,plenty reasons spring to mind.
Interesting stable,theres an interview just after this years county hurdle,freely available on the sportinglife video,which gives a little insight into how some horses are campaigned.
Ch,tibello mark was 18 months in the planning,that does not surprise me.Must have stuck him up 3/4 times on the a/post thread in that period,without success.Finding those target horses are what keeps me going,plenty fall by the wayside,granted,when they do oblige there is no better feeling.
Long given up on Ante-Post,there is too much temptation for some stables,in my humble opinion.
Good luck with the GC book,I can see the attraction in that strategy,get just one dark one right before the herd,would cover everything I would imagine.
